Warehouse Supervisor

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To ensure proper and safe custody (storage) of all Food Items commodities entrusted to WV by donors. This could be implemented through overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations such as commodity transactions in the warehouse, including receipt, storage and delivery of all commodities as well as staff management.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Warehouse Commodity Management: ensure that all commodities entrusted to World Vision arriving at the warehouse and leaving the warehouse are properly accounted for.
Logistics: ensure that proper logistic arrangements are always in place so that projects will run smoothly without avoidable commodity stock shortages in the warehouse.
Maintain Warehouse standards ensure that warehouse best practices, standards are maintained at all times as guided by WV Commodity manual standards this includes but not limited to maintaining FIFO instead of LIFO unless there is reasonable grounds, proper stacking, adequate warehouse equipment etc.
Record Keeping: Responsible to ensure that all the warehouse records including Ledger books, stack cards and stock control sheets are accurately filled and updated. Quantities recorded on these documents MUST correspond to the daily physical stock in the warehouse.
Coordination: establish and maintain proper logistics coordination with donors’ logistics departments.
Reporting: provide required periodic warehouse reports( daily ,weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual report).
Commodity Loss Management develops zero tolerance loss of commodities in the warehouse.
Warehouse Staff Management establish professional systems of managing warehouse staff and casual staff in the warehouse.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Bachelors in Accounting, Humanitarian Studies, Economics etc.
  • 2 year working experience with Storage
  • Good written and oral English skills./Arabic or Kurdish
  • Computer literate.
  • Extensive exposure to food assistance programs
  • Knowledge of the Sphere standards, Code of Conduct for Red Cross/ Red crescent, Humanitarian Accountability Partnerships (HAP) and other international humanitarian standards.
  • Knowledge of Commodities standards, as defined and set out by Food Programming Management Group (FPMG)
  • Knowledge of commodities & logistics operations, preferably within WV context, specifically those that relate to food distributions, warehousing, reporting, tracking, monitoring etc.
  • Knowledge of different capacity building initiatives
  • Ability to effectively develop rapport and relate to donors, NGOs, counterparts, and government agencies
 
Work Environment
  • Complete Travel and/or Work Environment statements if applicable.
  • This position will work from the warehouse.
