After assessments were completed, World Vision has secured registration to work in the three governorates with approximately 2.1 million internally-displaced persons (IDPs). The major concentration of the response work is on 220,000 displaced living in non-camps, particularly those who have settled in unused buildings and non-camp structures who receive less support from other organizations.

Food Vouchers Program

A total of 32,000 families (160,581 people) from the three districts of Erbil (Erbil City, Shaqlawa and Soran) have been provided with food vouchers per month. The vouchers, worth at least USD16 (IQD19,000) are valid for one month and the beneficiaries can go to the shops anytime within the period.

Cash Assistance

A total of 2,625 displaced families (7632 people) were provided with cash assistance in Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk Governorates. The unconditional assistance which amounts to an average of USD300 is provided to help empower families to decide on their most urgent needs.

Child-friendly Spaces

Two child-friendly spaces are now operational in Bersive 1 and II camps in Duhok for 600 children living in the camps. The Let Us Learn Project is partnership with a local NGO Public Aid Organization (PAO) that manages and classes and activities for children.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

A total of 1,250 water tanks were distributed in Dawedeya and Garmawa camps in Duhok benefitting 7,860 people. Koya and Erbil churches’ sanitation facilities served 1,098 people. Total beneficiaries who received hygiene promotion is 19,387 people. Two girls’ schools rehabilitated with WASH facilities for total of 1,994 students in Zakho area.

Health

The mobile health clinics in camps and non-camp areas have reached-out to over 14,000 people living in Sulaymaniyah, Ranya, Dukan and Qaladaza districts. In partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the daily and weekly clinics have helped augment the difficulties of the public health delivery system.

Non-Food Items (NFIs)

At least 13,509 people have been provided with kits for winterization, replenishment, hygiene and children were distributed to augment the pressing needs of the IDPs in many non-camp areas. During the distribution activities, the response team conducts hygiene promotion campaigns that include hand-washing and proper nutrition.
