PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This Purpose of Position will be used in the WVI or local Careers site, and if applicable, advertisements. Please describe the role in 2-3 concise sentences. Describe the purpose of this position and how this position contributes to achieving department objectives and the management and performance of others.

The Youth & ED Officer will be responsible for implementation of the MADAD project and act as a youth expert for the project. The individual will be responsible for providing technical and organizational support and overseeing the contextualization and implementation of interventions in IDP’s, refugees and affected host communities. Liaises and works closely with youth related structures, stakeholders and community members and carries out day-to-day coordination of respective advice service, vocational education program meanwhile looking for the employment and apprenticeship opportunities for accomplishing program deliverables in compliance with EU requirements. He/She will be represented as a local coach for SKYE clubs and ensure quality implementation of Service Learning Projects. 

                                                   

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Activities

  • Implement project activities in accordance with the project guidelines and targets

  • Provide the MADAD project team with continuous feedback on marketplace conditions, technology changes and all external factors that are likely to be relevant to it in the future; Spread the MADAD project identity and message into national stakeholders

  • Ensure the quality monitoring of Vocational training/apprenticeship/capacity building events within in accordance to the quality standards

  • Lead and facilitate sharing best practices within staff and stakeholders

  • Provide technical input and coordination of advocacy actions in Youth Empowerment promotion issues, under the guidance of Project Coordinator

  • Establish systems, processes, contextualize models to support Madad team in having one common approach in solving the raised issues within the scope of Livelihood  programming

  • Support Project Coordinator to administer MADAD project budget to ensure accurate and timely budget spending

  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders like local Camp management, local communities, donor representatives and other stakeholders as appropriate

  • Perform other duties as required

  • Attend and participate in weekly meeting with the direct line manager

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Higher education

  2. Proven ability to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse partners

  3. Excellent organizational, analytical

  4. Strong interpersonal skills

  5. Proven ability to manage stakeholders

  6. Fluency in English, Arabic and Kurdish languages

  7. Two years of experience working experience in Education and/or Youth Sector.

  8. Fluency in English and Arabic languages

  9. Knowledge of the refugees’ context in KRI is desirable.

  10. Ability and willingness to learn new things and support new initiatives

  11. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure, efficient task prioritization and time management

  12. Good relationships/networking with the actors of Youth sector

  13. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with the community

  14. Use reflective practice and promote its use for learning, Use critical thinking and analysis

  15. Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking

  16. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with partners

  17. Understanding of community mobilization and empowerment principles and approaches

  18. Excellent coordination skills

  19. Ability to engage in personal learning and development

  20. Practice in community development    

  21. Training experience

  22. Experience of communicating with Government, Non-Government, organizations and other Youth related area stakeholders.
