Location: Remote rig-site location in KRI, some work in Genel Energy offices in Erbil

The Company is steadily growing the business through the appraisal and development of our assets in the Kurdistan Region. As a result, it now requires additional experienced personnel to sustain this forward momentum and provide added value to the organisation.
Job Purpose:

Wellsite Geologists (WSG’s) represent the operating company and will be onsite from the start of operations (well spud/sidetrack) to total depth.

The responsibilities of the WSG include, but are not limited to:-

Ensuring that all Geological operations are carried out in a safe and correct manner; • Supervising mud logging operations in relation to drilling procedures;

Ensuring good sampling of ditch cuttings, so that they are collected as specified within the Geological Operations Plan (GOP), and that they are properly examined, correctly labeled and packed;

Ensuring any third party advanced / connected mudlogging service (IE: Advanced rock washing, HD sample photographs, and any XRF-XRD services) are completed and carried out.

Ensuring that correct data information is reported;

Maintaining an up-to-date well log / composite log to include, but not to be limited to rate of penetration (ROP), hydrocarbon shows, lithological description, and biostratigraphic interpretation;

Being responsible for onsite geological evaluation

Providing advice to the drilling supervisor and mud logging unit personnel of technical objectives and any anticipated hazards;

Recommending evaluation procedures and any operational changes deemed necessary;

Working closely with the DSV and drilling engineer to pick casing, and logging depths

Working with Erbil based M/LWD QA-QC team for to ensure quality of tools and personnel at the rig-site to help ensure minimal NPT.

Working with the dedicated wireline log witness, to supervise wireline-logging operations, ensuring that state-of-the-art equipment and procedures are used
Education
-
Geological or related Science Degree.

Fluent in English.

15 plus years of relevant experience in wellsite geological operations on land drilling and operations
