Main purpose of the job: 
  • Carrying out surveillance and guarding activities in MSF facilities, according to MSF protocols and security rules, in order to ensure the safety and security of all mission's personnel and premises.
Accountabilities: 
  • Surveying the MSF premise's access and guides people to reception within authorized hours. Contacts administration team for authorizing people access.
  • Watching MSF premises and property's perimeter fence through regular patrols. Remaining on duty until other watchman comes to do a handover, never leaving the post unattended.
  • Organizing traffic of vehicles within the premises and directs them in and out.
  • Checking that the doors and windows are locked and lights are off when people leave premises. Checking that security lights are working properly and informing line manager of any possible problems.
  • Keeping area within MSF premises clean and tidy (ex. empty dustbins, sweep paths, etc.) and performs general maintenance activities of the garden (ex. cut grass, maintain flower beds, prune trees if necessary, etc.).
  • Maintaining watchmen's torch and other lighting tools, returning used batteries and keeping the necessary supply of spare batteries. Maintaining communication equipment (radio) in working conditions and providing battery availability.
  • Supervising diesel/petrol tank levels and providing spare can(s) of fuel. Ensuring the correct functioning of generator and water pumps (starting, switching off, record sheet of operating hours and maintenance) as well as the correct use of extinguishers (being aware of their location.
  • Informing line manager of arrival of any materials before unloading and helping MSF staff carry heavy items, if necessary.
  • Never be forceful verbally with a patient, be a friendly presence in order to be approachable and accepted by the patients so that you can learn about how best MSF can meet their needs and the patients can feel as though their views are heard.
Specific requirements for the role: 
  • Essential Fluency in Arabic
  • Desirable basic level of English 
  • Desirable previous experience as watchwoman
  • Able to read and write

MSFCH will manage COVID-19 Intensive Care Facility in the Al Salam Teaching Hospital, Mosul, in order to support DOHN’s response to COVID-19 pandemic by providing lifesaving intensive care for COVID-19 confirmed severe cases.
 
ADDITIONAL INFO
As a part of the MSFCH team, you will be directly exposed to potential contact with COVID-19 patients. Therefore, all interested candidates must ensure not to have any medical pre-existing condition that would make them more vulnerable in case of contamination of the virus.
 
COVID 19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are within close proximity of someone who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose or mouth. People with the following pre-existing medical conditions are more vulnerable to develop complications from this disease:
  •  Age > 60 years old
  • Obesity and Severe Obesity – BMI >30 and ≥ 40
  • Diabetes
  • Cardiovascular Disease, including hypertension, coronary disease, arrhythmia, heart failure
  • Chronic lung disease (including asthma, COPD, TB), heavy smokers
  • Chronic kidney or liver disease, including Hepatitis B/C
  • Pregnancy
  • Immunosuppression/immunocompromising conditions such as:
  • Cancer treatment 
  • Bone marrow or solid organ transplant
  • Immunodeficiencies
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Prolonged use of corticosteroids or other immunosuppressants
