Overall purpose of the job
The post holder will provide translation and interpretation services from English to Arabic and vice-versa as directed. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficientoperation of MAG’s office in Baghdad.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Translate all kinds of documents including SOPs, job descriptions, reports, official letters and etc. from
  • English to Arabic and vice versa.
  • Provide oral translation support to MAG’s national and international staff if and when required.
  • Handling office tasks, such as filing, generating reports and presentations, setting up for meetings, and reordering supplies.
  • Providing real-time scheduling support by booking appointments and preventing conflicts.
  • Making travel arrangements, such as booking flights, cars, and making hotel and restaurant reservations.
  • Screening phone calls and routing callers to the appropriate party.
  • Using computers to generate reports, transcribe minutes from meetings, create presentations, and conduct research.
  • Greet and assist visitors.
  • Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
  • Coordinate office procedures
  • Follows up on government / authorities’ letters and archives them for further action and /or documentation.
  • This job description must remain flexible, to respond to additional tasks or changes as identified by the line manager
 
General

  • Contribute to other fundraising initiatives where appropriate.
  • Participate in meetings where relevant.
  • Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise
  • Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required.
 
PERSON SELECTION CRITERIA
  • An understanding of NGOs and a commitment to humanitarian work.
  • An excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • An excellent command of spoken and written Arabic.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and high level of self-motivation
  • Administrative skills and ability to take minutes of meetings
