Position Summary:

Genel Energy is an independent E&P company listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange Headquartered in London with offices in Ankara, Erbil, Morocco & Somaliland, Genel is one of the largest London-listed independent oil producers and is the largest holder of reserves and resources in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior CSR Specialist to join Genel in January 2021 to work with local communities around the Sarta license. In the first year the role will focus on shadowing and working with our partner Chevron. In subsequent years the successful candidate will be responsible for community engagement activities and partnering with local communities to develop CSR projects that aim to have far-reaching benefits for the local community and environment in and around the Sarta Field.

The Senior CSR Specialist is responsible for managing community relations, developing a multi-year CSR project roadmap, securing budget and approvals, executing projects and monitoring success.

Key Accountabilities

Develop and manage the stakeholder engagement plan
Plan, manage and supervise the implementation of Sarta CSR projects ensuring proper identification of local community needs and concerns as well as ensuring timely delivery and monitoring effectiveness and reporting progress to management.
Coordinate meetings with Local Authorities in the communities around Sarta action areas to set annual plans for the CSR projects and obtain necessary approvals.
Prepare detailed briefings and reports including CSR presentations for the MC Meetings, CSR activities monthly and quarterly reports and share with management in timely manner.
Respond to Management enquiries and requests for provision of information and input on any related CSR activities and issues.
Develop CSR strategy, procedures and plans in coordination with management, and manage proper implementations of agreed and approved strategies.
Management and control of budget and spend process
Represent Genel Energy in the MC / MNR meetings under the PSC and coordinate regular meetings related to CSR activities.
Supervise the process of selecting NGOs to implement specific CSR projects as well as monitor and evaluate the activities of the selected NGOs to ensure the achievement of desired objectives.
Supervise the activities of the on-site Community Relations Coordinators.
File / archive all CSR related documents electronically and in hard copies in an accessible format; make sure all data and information are finalized and available to be used by other staff members.

Skills and Experience

Fluent in spoken and written English and Kurdish
Degree qualified (relevant field preferred)
10+ years total experience in with 5 years minimum within the O&G industry
Hold detailed knowledge of the Sarta block area
Demonstrate a strong relationship with Sarta key community leaders
Possess a wide understanding of the issues of the local community
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Display creative and innovative thinking
Ability to think analytically and a keen problem solver
Good communication skills
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
