Chemonics International seeks applications from qualified candidates for the position of a Security Manager (SM). This position will be based in Erbil, Iraq with an anticipated duration of employment until September 30, 2020 with the possibility of extension. We are considering both an option of full-time and part-time position so we welcome applications from both types of candidates. 
Responsibilities include:
  • Development of security protocols for Chemonics operations in Erbil and Kirkuk
  •  Keep the project team informed with up-to-date local information that affects security procedures and day-to-day operations, including in-depth knowledge of program’s area of operations in South West Kirkuk, including Haiwja, Abbasi, Zab, Riyadh, Multaqa, Rashad 
  • Be responsible for building and enhancing strategic relationships with the Iraqi security sector, including developing relationships with local security professionals, NGO/IP security managers, and security forces. 
  • The SM must be exceptionally familiar with Iraqi security dynamics and operating environment in both Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional of Iraq (KRI). 
  • They must also be able to work and coordinate with various stakeholders in-country and in the Chemonics Home Office, while demonstrating sound judgment and a high level of discretion.
 
Desired Qualifications
  • Iraqi citizen/resident required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent demonstrated experience (industrial/commercial security or military) required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in security management and oversight, with the duties and responsibilities described above with in-depth knowledge of program’s area of operations in South West Kirkuk, including Haiwja, Abbasi, Zab, Riyadh, Multaqa, Rashad
  • A minimum of four years of experience working with international organizations and one year of experience working with DFID implementing partners preferred.
  • Sound working knowledge of appropriate government protocols, processes, and procedures across a range of departments and ministries in Federal Iraq and the KRI.
  • Demonstrated intellect, maturity, demeanor, and character to effectively interact with all levels of the government and business communities, and to effectively represent Social Cohesion in this context.
  • Demonstrated honesty, integrity, and moral standards to be entrusted with proprietary and confidential business and security information.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the cultural sensitivities involved in working with such a diverse region with multiple components of the Iraqi spectrum.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to prioritize multiple work assignments in an extremely fast-paced environment, to meet deadlines, and to exercise good, strong professional judgment.
  • Demonstrated experience using Excel and Word, as well as managing databases and organizing significant amounts of information.
  • Fluency in written and oral Arabic, Kurdish, and English required; other local language proficiency is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to report to and coordinate with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
