World Vision International is a Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision - Iraq Office is looking for a highly qualified and motivated person for the position of Resilience and Livelihood Specialist – Ninewa. 

 

JOB PURPOSE: 

 

The proposed project seeks to address the root causes of SGBV including (i) Women’s low economic activity and low-income level, being a driving force for domestic and gender-based violence in the family, as well as SGBV prevalence in Iraq, (ii) Low knowledge, information, and adoption of climate-smart agriculture (CSA) interventions, especially latest advances in research and technological innovations, which can boost productivity in agriculture value chains, and increase employment opportunities for women and youth and (iii) Limited understanding of how and why climate services have to be shaped to meet the differing needs of women, and how to use this information to influence policy change.


The role of this position is to support the implementation of livelihood activities through careful analysis to determine needs, and ensure that interventions are properly implemented and effective in addressing the root causes of SGBV through economic empowerment interventions, training, and development of the capacity of targeted households on various topics that enhance awareness of climate change and adaptation measures needed to mitigate its effect. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Field activities supervision

  • Carry out the daily field activities including but not limited to household assessment supervision, beneficiary selection, FGDs with communities, vendor selection and contracting, etc.
  • Supervised and monitoring of the field activities.
  • Ensure the supply and availability of materials in the stocks and sites.
  • Ensure collaboration with the local authorities in the intervention areas.
  • Coordinate community mobilization and sensitization of the community on Livelihood activities under the project.
  • Liaise with beneficiary community and local authorities in the selection of project sites as per the requirement of the project design.
  • Ensure the close liaison and consultation with Communities leaders during the implementation of the Livelihood services as per project document requirement.

 

Quality outputs

  • Implement project activities in accordance with the project guidelines and targets
  • Undertake capacity building of the various groups involved in projects using best practices prior to any intervention.
  • Provide the project manager with continuous feedback on progress and all factors that enhance or hinder the attainment of intended outcomes.
  • Contribute to tracking of economic development quality benchmarks and reporting these to the project manager on a monthly basis
  • Supervise coaching and mentorship to ensure that the intervention is properly conducted according to the set standards.
  • Follow up, inspect and ensure project materials are delivered as per specified measurements at field level in a timely way, and make follow up with the supervisor for those not delivered as per requisition.

 

Data collection

  • Support beneficiary selection, and ensure organizational and documental aspects of the beneficiary data. 

 

Reporting and communication

  • Participate in regular meetings to review the quality and progress of the work.
  • Prepare the required reports to the line manager (Project Manager) and feedback with accurate information.

Other

  • Any other assignment was given by line managers

 


 KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture related field, Community development, Climate Science or any other development field
  • Experience in Resilience, Livelihood, Environment and food security related fields is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the IDPs, returnees and host communities profile in Ninewa.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure, efficient task prioritization and time management
  • Use reflective practice and promote its use for learning, Use critical thinking and analysis
  • Creative, and innovative thinker
  • Excellent coordination skills, community mobilization and empowerment approaches
  • Ability to manage a wide range of work assignments and changing priorities in high pressure and demanding environment
  • Ability to work in high tension and high security risk situations and be able to adapt to rapidly changing contexts
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the Red Cross and NGO Code of Conduct and capability of incorporating standards in design, implementation and evaluation of relevant projects
  • Ability to respect and relate appropriately to people of other faiths.
  • Excellent time-management and prioritization
  • Experience of working with cross-functional teams.
  • Past experience in working with the livelihood sector
  • Fluency in Local language. 
  • Working knowledge of English and ability to write reports in English.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Up to 60 percent domestic travel.
