PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The psychologist will be responsible for the life skills and resilience courses as well as providing case management to particularly vulnerable cases and build the capacity of staff on psychosocial support (PSS) activities. The Psychologist on each team (static and mobile CFLS) will ensure that all activities have a robust psychosocial component.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     Providing Technical support to all project activities implemented

·         Work with the Case worker supervisor and project staff to develop and oversee Psychosocial activities (PSS) for young girls and boys targeted in the project;

·         Develop with case worker supervisor the Life Skills and Resilience topics in the static and mobile CFLS.

·         Provide age-appropriate case management services and psychosocial support to all cases identified and referred by the static and mobile team ensuring strict adherence to the core GBV guiding principles (safety and security, confidentiality, respect);

·         Participate in weekly case review meetings with staff;

·         Coordinate with CFLS staff and case management supervisor on the courses curricula and identified needs for PSS activities within the curricula;

·         Contribute to the revision and design of PSS tools and training material;

·         Analyze the data and information about cases referred in order to improve service delivery interventions;

·         Maintain a collaborative relationship with protection cluster and all organizations working in the local context to facilitate referrals and joint activities, while upholding WVI standard in GBV programming;

·         Complete monthly activity reports and develop and maintain work plans to achieve activities;

·         Ensure that ethical and sound data collection and information management systems are in place for all cases identified and referred.

2. Capacity Building provision for project team

·         Deliver capacity building activities on PSS, and Psychosocial first aid to project staff, Case identification and referring mechanisms

·         Coordination activities with CFLS staff, ensuring the PSS elements are well integrated in the programme as per needs identified together.

3. Raise awareness of parents (parents of children/youth attending CFLS courses) on education and protection

·         Support staff in the static and mobile CFLS to develop awareness raising materials

·         Inform and sensitize parents of child referred cases on the necessary type of support and role they need to play to help their child overcome the situation they are in.

·         Refer child cases to the other NGO services and respective clusters.
 

- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • University degree in Psychology or Social Work.
  •  Minimum 3 years’ experience in education including the ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage NFE programs that include curricula and materials design, teacher mobilization and training, monitoring Previous working experience in Child protection is mandatory requirement. Strong Management and team leaders is necessary.
  •  Fluent in both English and Arabic (speaking and writing).
  • Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office package.
  •  Excellent communication skills with children of different age groups and adults (staff and community members)

  • Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to work in difficult and high risk situations
  • Ability to cope and work under pressure
  • Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team
  • Familiar with Humanitarian Principles and standards
  • Familiar with sector minimum standards and guidelines such as INEE Minimum Standards; familiar with Kurdish and Iraqi education system and UN cluster system (high asset)
  • Full adherence to World Vision Child Protection, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
