Democracy and Human Rights Development Center /DHRD, is glad to announce a number of new positions  under a new project which is starting on February 1st, 2019. The project is funded by UNHCR, and it is a Gender Based Violence (GBV) project in Sulaymnaiya province; working on preventing and responding to SGBV among refugees and asylum seekers resident inside or outside the refugee camps located in Sulaimanya and Garmyan areas. The deadline for applications is January 28, 2019.
 
 
DHRD is seeking one Psychologist to work under a Gender Based Violence (GBV) project in Sulaymnaiya province. The project is working on preventing and responding to SGBV among refugees and asylum seekers resident inside or outside the refugee camps located in Sulaimanya and Garmyan areas.
 
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Provide family therapy and psychological counseling to the sexual and gender - based violence survivors who meet the project criteria and need psychological assistance and to refer them to a psychiatrist following providing the latter with a report to brief the survivor’s psychological condition. 
  • Refer cases to psychiatrist when deemed necessary.
  • Prepare monthly reports on all implemented activities within the project and this position tasks and responsibilities scopes.  
  • Fill up psychological assessment forms for the sex & gender based violence survivors.
  • Maintain sustainability beyond the end of the project period and continue voluntarily to provide psychological assistance to the gender - based violence survivors who still have psychological disorders and are still in need of psychological assistance and support.
  • Provide assistance to the DHRD staff members in all activities, workshops and training courses to ensure providing best quality of assistance for the GBV survivors in away to achieve the project goal and objectives.
  • Working full-time, in and off camps, from 09:00am to 04:00pm, five days a week and to be available beyond the regular project working hours whenever required.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • University degree in Psychology or related fields (BA ) 
  • Minimum 2 years in the field of psychosocial service provision.
  • Previous experience working with GBV survivors.
  • Previous experience working in mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS) is a plus.
  • Previous NGO experience.
  • Fluent in Arabic and Kurdish and good in English.
