Protection Project Officer

To technical support and oversee all child protection interventions that are planned to be undertaken in the project focusing on case management, psychosocial support and community based child protection mechanisms. In addition, the role will supervise and technical build the capacity of case workers, Psychosocial support (PSS) Facilitators and Community Mobilizers to promote the prevention and response to vulnerable and at risk children towards abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence in the targeted locations.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Capacity Building of Staff / Community Volunteer
  • In coordination with Project Coordinator, Children in Emergencies Technical (CiE TA) Advisor and Zonal Manager recruit appropriate Case Workers, PSS Facilitators and Community Mobilizers.
  • In coordination with MEAL, Project Coordinator and CiE TA, facilitate training to the project case workers on child and adult safeguarding, code of conduct, child protection case management SOP, CPIMS+ and Data Protection and Information Sharing (DPIS) protocols.
  • In coordination with MEAL, Project Coordinator and CiE TA, facilitate training to the project PSS facilitators on child and youth resilience programs.
  • In coordination with MEAL, Project Coordinator and CiE TA, facilitate training to the project Community Mobilizers on community based child protection mechanism and positive parenting to build the capacity of child protection committee.
  • Follow up the roll out of the training by the Community Mobilizers to the CPCs.
  • In coordination with Project Coordinator, CiE TA, develop coaching plan and implement the plan for case workers, PSS Facilitators and Community Mobilizers to ensure quality implementation.
  • Closely observe performance of each staff and volunteer, provide timely advice and appreciation.
 
Ensure quality implementation of child protection planned interventions
  • Conduct monthly case management case file audit and case management observation using the interagency case file checklist.
  • Conduct PSS Facilitators observation on child friendly communication and engagement skills.
  • Follow up Community Mobilizers on the community awareness message development process, campaign plans and material development.
  • Conduct regular consultation with CiE TA on the quality CP implementation progresses of the project.
 
Meet internal and external reporting requirements
  • Submit weekly, monthly, annual activity report to Project Coordinator, Zonal Manager, CiE TA.
  • Coordinate with Project Coordinator and CiE technical Advisor submit information on the progress of case management, PSS and Community engagement interventions.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • At least Bachelor’s degree on social science (social work, education, psychology, sociology etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in child protection case management, psychosocial support and engagement with children and community (community mobilization, parenting training, teaching, social work, etc)
  • Native Arab, Fluent in both English and Arabic (speaking and writing).
  • Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office package.
  • Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to work in difficult and high risk situations.
  • Ability to cope and work under pressure.
  • Ability to mobilize and engage in community dialogue and discussion.
  • Ability to negotiate and mediate sensitive matters at community level.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team.
  • Familiar with Humanitarian Principles and standards.
  • Familiar with sector minimum standards and guidelines such as Minimum Standards for CP in Humanitarian Actions, Inter-Agency guideline on MHPSS in humanitarian settings).
  • Full adherence to World Vision Child Protection, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
  • Work experience with humanitarian agencies.
  • Management experience (especially managing the diverse team of staff/ volunteers).
 
Work Environment
  • 90% travel required.
