The BMZ has commissioned GIZ to implement the Information, Communication and Technology – Perspective for Modern Youth in Iraq (ICT) project in Iraq.  

The aim of the project is to create job perspective for youth in the field of ICT, in close collaboration with its partners from the innovation ecosystem. This is achieved through the setup of innovation hubs with co-working and makerspaces, trainings in start-up entrepreneurship and advanced tech skills (start-up incubation/ acceleration, clockchain and app development, digital production) as well as interventions in the fields of early-stage finance (angel investmemt, seed grants) and entrepreneurship research.

Your tasks 

  • Manage contracted partners and consultants.
  • Ensure that all contractually agreed supplies or deadlines are meet. 
  • Advise the partners on all contract-related issues. 
  • Manage the relationships with private, public sector, investors, academia, donor organizations, NGO, CSO, international development aid sector, and related industries.
  • Advises partners on the establishment of (strategic) partnerships with the private and public sector to promote the sustainability of partner structures and to provide employment opportunities after the provided trainings are completed.
  • Providing the support of employment promotion in the digital economy.
  • Supports in the planning, preparation, and implementation of workshops (online and offline), conferences and events.
  • Supporting in the development and technical management of activities in the field of coding bootcamps (e.g. app/web development, Java, Python, AI, blockchain, data analysis and management, cloud computing, cybersecurity) and trainings in digital skills (e.g. UX/UI, digital production, robotics).
  • Ensure that all relevant materials (contracts, studies, impact documentation, etc.) are stored in the project's knowledge management system. Furthermore, the position holder is responsible for participating in data collection and knowledge management of the entire activity.
  • Coordination and cooperation with actors of the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Your profile 

Required qualifications, competencies, and experience Qualifications 

Professional experience  

  • Academic degree in relevant fields such as IT, Economics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Communications, Environmental Studies, or comparable studies. 
  • At least 2 years of working experience in the management of activities in the field of digital and (employment promotion and digital economy); work experience in the private technology skills development sector is an advantage. 
  • At least 2 years of working experience in project and partner network management.  
  • Proven working experience in the organization and implementation of workshops, conferences, and events  
  • Proven working experience in supporting development cooperation efforts in the field of employment creation in the digital sector; working experience with GIZ is an advantage 
  • Experiences coordinating activities with administrative entities, academia, business owners and managers as well as business organizations.  
  • Above average academic Arabic and fluent English language proficiencies are mandatory (written and spoken); Kurdish language skills are an advantage.

  • Ability to travel inside Iraq (incl. South and KRI) and abroad for limited periods of time
