“Private Sector Development (PSD) & Employment Promotion/ Economic Integration of Young People and Returnees” Project
The GIZ “Private Sector Development Project” (PSD) supports the Government of Iraq to develop its private sector with the objective to create more job opportunities for young people. GIZ is a fully German Government owned organisation active in 130 countries with over 21.000 employees.
The duty station for the “Project Coordinator – SME development and job creation in Diyala” is Baquba, Diyala (possibly home office).
The position is in a motivated, dynamic, and idealistic team which welcomes personalities with similar qualities. We’re looking for people who like to think outside the box and are proactive in their approaches.
Responsibilities
The position holder will:

Facilitate the project implementation in Dyiala under the steering of the project’s management team. This will include full project circle activities such as planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Assist the project to identify new beneficiaries and partners as well to maintain excellent work relations with existing ones.

Implements project’s activities in its Field of Action (FoA) 4 – qualifications & Labour Market Measures. In its FoA 4, the project aims to implement needs-oriented employment promotion measures and improve the range of such services available for young people including returnees.

Support in planning and implementation of appropriate monitoring and evaluation measures (M&E).

Coordinate with existing GIZ Projects in Dyiala.
This position will allow for a significant level of creativity but also demands dedication to our objective, diplomatic skills and self-resilience.
This position might require an extensive period of working from home pending the office readiness and security situation.
Tasks
Implementation and Monitoring
The position holder supports the implementation of the project’s operational plan in coordination with the international field of action head. This may include the full responsibility for certain activities according to the standard project cycle. The position will support PSD M&E Officer in implementing the project’s monitoring plan in the field.
Stakeholder Management and Planning
The position holder liaises with the project’s political and implementation partners. This duty also includes the identification of new beneficiaries and partners in Dyiala. One main function of the position is the close coordination of PSD activities with other GZ projects operation in the intervention areas.
The position will support the planning efforts of the project for Dyiala.
Operations (including logistics)
The position holder supports PSD staff in organizing workshop, meetings, travels and other activities in Dyiala. Also, coordination with relevant GIZ administration office such as procurement, accounting, contracts is part of the position.
Other duties/additional tasks
The position holder will support the project with any additional task if necessary.
Required qualifications, competencies and experience

Academic degree in relevant fields such as (but not exclusively) in social sciences, political science, economics, management or business administration.

Proven experience (at least 4 years) in supporting development cooperation efforts in one of the following or similar fields:

Youth employment

Youth skills advancement
-
Youth organizations
-
TVET Training
-
Startup promotion
-
Administration experience are advantage especially in accounting or logistics.

Above average academic Arabic, and fluent English are mandatory (writing and speaking)

Management experience of contractors is an advantage.

Ability to travel in Iraq and abroad for limited periods of time.
