The GIZ Private Sector Development & Employment Promotion Project (PSD) supports the government of Iraq and the government of the Kurdish Region to develop its private sector with the objective to create more job opportunities for young people. The duty station for this position is the GIZ Erbil Office.

The PSD project is looking for a project coordinator, who has collected work or education experiences abroad. We are a motivated, dynamic, and idealistic team that welcomes personalities with similar qualities.
Responsibilities
As part of its approach to foster private sector company growth, the PSD project implements a field of action on economic transformation and fact-based policy development. The main objective of this field of action is to support government partners working on economic policy reforms, through the provision of advisory services on economic policy as well through the design of capacity-development measures of ministries and their staff. Furthermore, the project coordinates with academic partners to involve their inputs into policymaking processes.

The project coordinator will facilitate the project implementation in Erbil (and in the Kurdish Region in general) under the steering of the project’s management team. This will include full project circle activities such as planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation. The candidate will assist the project to identify new beneficiaries and partners as well as to maintain excellent work relations with existing ones. A special focus will be on coordination with existing GIZ measures and connected international donors. The position will allow for a significant level of creativity but also demands dedication to our objectives, diplomatic skills, and self-reliance.
Tasks
Implementation 

The position holder supports the implementation of the project’s operational plan in coordination with the line manager. This may include the full responsibility for certain activities according to the standard project cycle. A special focus will be on process development and reform. 
Furthermore, the position is responsible for results assessment according to GIZ standard M&E schemes with the preparation of reports and public relation material.
Planning
Governmental budgetary planning will be researched and capacities for key decision-makers strengthened accordingly.
The position holder provides local and international, practical, and academic knowledge to the project planning process. 
Strategic Networking and Stakeholder management
The position holder serves as an activity coordinator to political partners (i.e. MoP, MoLSA), national organisations, and beneficiaries. This includes the creation of a strong network, continuous needs assessments, enabling project activities, communicating approaches. 
Furthermore, the representation of the project and its activities in coordination with the line manager, built-up and care for relationships (stakeholder mapping), identification of potential future cooperation partners. 

The position holder will support the government relation matters of the project.

The position holder will support the project with any additional task if necessary.
Required qualifications, competences, and experience 
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, business, political or social sciences or other relevant fields 
Professional experience
  • Study or work experiences abroad
  • Background in consultancy is an advantage 
  • Diplomatic and socials skills are expected.
  • Work experience in international development cooperation organizations is an advantage.
  • Above-average academic Kurdish, fluency in English, and good knowledge in Arabic are mandatory (written and spoken). German is an advantage.
  • Other knowledge, additional competences
  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • Experienced networker
  • Self-reliant, proactive, and responsible personality, innovative and flexible
  • Ability to travel within Iraq and internationally is required 
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
