Job description: A Procurement officer manages the ordering process and is responsible for ensuring timely orders and deliveries of materials and services as per the requirements. And builds vendor relationships to secure the best prices on products for the company, and develops efficient procurement solutions to support the management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
General Activities:

A Procurement Specialist will have many duties, but they typically focus on locating suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring that all products and services purchased meet the organization’s specifications.

Researching – Procurement specialists evaluate and compare products and services to determine which best meets the organization’s needs.

Cost Analysis – Obtaining goods at the right cost.

Prepare request for proposals, request quotes and negotiate purchase terms and conditions.

Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements.
-
Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns.

Researching new suppliers, ensuring that all purchased products and materials meet our specifications, and negotiating with vendors as needed.

planning, creating, and processing timely requisitions and purchase orders.

Tracking orders.

Ensuring on-time deliveries.

Developing strong relationships with key suppliers and measuring suppliers’ performance based on cost, quality, delivery, and service level.

Working with other internal departments such as finance, and operations to resolve issues and concerns.

Initiating corrective actions on bad materials and following through the resolution with suppliers

Researching and identifying prospective suppliers of assigned categories

Analyzing industry and demand trends.
Requirements and skills

Proven work experience as a Procurement or similar role.

Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Strong understanding of business processes

Strong math skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems.

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to work independently

A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, or a similar field preferred.
