Chemonics International seeks applications from qualified candidates for multiple Procurement Assistant positions for the Iraq Regional Program (IRP) based in Mosul, Iraq. IRP is a USAID project that aims to promote an inclusive and stable Iraq; assist persecuted, conflict-affected populations; and support stabilization and recovery efforts. The Procurement Assistant will provide overall support to the IRP Procurement team. S/he will be responsible for managing documentation related to procurement, logistics, inventory and other administrative duties as assigned. The Procurement Assistant will, under the direction of the Procurement Officer, ensure that all processes are transparent and in compliance with pertinent regulations and best practices.
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Check project inventory and track all project items
  • Assist the procurement team during the procurement process
  • Prepare Payment Requests, Purchase Orders, PAR forms, RFQs and BPAs when needed
  • Prepare Loan Agreements for staff working in Iraq.
  • Create and manage procurement files.
  • Assist staff in addressing any procurement questions or issues in collaboration with the Operations and Procurement staff.
  • Stay well informed regarding all Chemonics policies and procedures related to procurement.
 
 
Qualifications:
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in Logistic and Inventory or similar fields for donor-funded projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work with culturally and geographically diverse staff.
  • Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow staff members, visitors, and partner institutions, including international and local NGOs, governmental entities, support organizations, and the general public.
  • Must be capable of lifting and moving items with a weight of 20 Kilograms.
  • Working proficiency in basic office computer applications including MS Word and Excel.
  • Fluency in written and oral Arabic and English is required; written and oral fluency in Kurdish, and other local languages is a plus, but not required.
