The programme Manager oversees the program objectives and the progress made. Manages teams in output-based manner and ensure that the necessary adjustments are made whenever the desired results are not being achieved .evaluates the program activities and clarifies any discrepancies between the results formulated and those achieved , the duration of this position is for initially 6 months with possibility of extension. 

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:  

Program strategy  

Identifies opportunities and threats and translates the overall objectives of Cordaid into the program objectives. Recognizes and identifies the success factors. Defines the program strategy and ensures the continuous adjustment of this strategy in view of funding developments. Identifies opportunities for Cordaid and formulates strategic recommendations. Analyzes management information about opportunities and bottlenecks in strategy, structure, services, processes and results of the unit. 

 

Financial results  

Establishes financial framework based on the funding strategy and pipeline. Keeps up to date information on the financial position of the programs. Assesses deviations from the established budgets. Defines the priorities concerning the allocation of financial resources and, whenever necessary, makes adjustments. 

 

Funding opportunities  

Ensures collaboration with SIF in order to develop proposals and deploys unit members to proposal design teams. Scans calls of donors pro-actively in relation to the unit strategy. 

 

Network Build up  

Build a national network that is needed for achieving the unit's desired results. Represents the unit by carrying out representative functions and being involved in dialogue with external parties. Negotiates with parties involved in order to arrive at favourable agreements and advantageous cooperation, while constantly keeping in mind the reputation and profiling of Cordaid. 

 

Internal cooperation  

Initiates internal cooperation focused on innovation, cooperation advantages, efficiency and synergy between program units and Strategy, Innovation and Funding and Communications. Records these in cooperation agreements. 

 

Program unit culture  

In close collaboration with the Programme Director ensures that the core values of Cordaid are manifested in the functioning of the unit and implementation pf the Unit projects in the field. Encourages team cooperation, innovation, social entrepreneurship, and knowledge development.

Qualifications, skills and competencies: 

Knowledge of agriculture/ economy or other relevant subject on an academic level. 

Knowledge of management styles, project management, international cooperation with local partners, country/region ofthe Field Office, techniques, reporting standards and languages.Knowledge of the mission and goals of the Cordaid programme and the security policy.Social skills to agree on deliverables and ensure progress with local staff and to support local partners.Writing skills to formulate the project plan and project reports. 

Experience:        

  • 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience  

  • Experience in crisis or post conflict countries; 

  • 3 years of senior-level management responsibilities of similar size and complexities including operational management responsibilities; 

  • Strong diplomatic skills in handling counterpart relations.

  • Ability to work effectively in harsh conditions
