Position Summary: Genel Energy is an independent E&P company listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange Headquartered in London with offices in Ankara, Erbil, Morocco & Somaliland, Genel is one of the largest London-listed independent oil producers and is the largest holder of reserves and resources in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The Operation Accountant role will be based in Erbil and report to the Operation Finance Manager. The purpose of the role is to provide finance and accounting support to the group’s growing operations across Kurdistan.

Act as the focal point for accounting and cost control in Kurdistan.
In-depth review and processing of operation invoices in accordance with the contracts
To ensure the due approval process is followed on all transactions.
To act as operation cost control support for Operation Managers.
To provide monthly and ad-hoc cost control reports to the Operation Manager and other functional managers.
To control the accuracy of sales and delivery documentation.
To liaise closely with accounts payable function for timely and accurate payments to suppliers and contractors.
Maintain accurate and reconciled trade payable accounts.
To work closely with other functions to ensure accurate allocation of shared costs between assets.
To support Drilling Accountant in drilling cost control and recording.
Provide support and assistance to the finance team in Ankara.
Handling of field cash, cash disbursement of valid expenses with documentation
Available to travel and stay in the field when required
Comply with all internal company policies and procedures including but not limited to rules and processes around finance, procurement, and legal
Open to assume additional roles as required by the needs of the business
Managing the process and maintaining the books in line with the cost recovery mechanism
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
+5 years of experience in accounting.
Previous experience with other IOCs or oil and gas service companies in Kurdistan.
Solid financial/commercial understanding of Kurdistan’s oil and gas operation framework, contract reviews, and cost recovery processes in accordance with the PSCs
Fluency in Kurdish and English (spoken and written) is essential.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc

Internally the candidate will be expected to work supportively and actively collaborate with all disciplines and functions whether in London, Ankara, or at any Genel Energy locations in the KRI.
