Job requirements: 
The Deminer is responsible for and must ensure that: 
  • He understands and adheres to SOP’s and drills and procedures 
  • He is correctly briefed and understands his responsibilities and duties 
  • He carries out his duties as directed by the MAT leaders. 
  • He is to carry out Quality Assurance checks as required by SOPs. 
  • He has the right equipment and stores to carry out his operational duties 
  • He correctly uses and maintains all equipment in his charge in compliance with MAG-N. Iraq SOP’s ∙ Any deficiencies of, or faults or problems with equipment in his charge, should be reported to the team  leader as soon as possible 
  • He wears the required protective clothing for the task in the correct manner in compliance with SOP’s ∙ That his actions do not prejudice the safety, security or professional standing of MAG and its employees (as per the MAG contract of employment) 
  • He works as part as a team and helps to foster team spirit 
  • He is able to travel and remain in the field when necessary 
  • He carries out any other operational tasks as directed to meet operational requirements ∙ He must be able to drive MAG vehicles for operational purposes. 
General Responsibilities 
  • Work within the framework of MAG’s core values 
  • MAG employees are expected to maintain professional behavior in line with MAG's core values  because their work represents MAG. 
  • Contribute to other fundraising initiatives where appropriate. 
  • Participate in meetings where relevant.  
  • Understand and support the standards set out in MAG's safeguarding policy, by behaving in a way that  protects the well-being of everyone who has a work relationship with MAG and report concerns, if any. ∙ Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes. ∙ Undertake any other duties as may be required. 
  • Act as an ambassador for MAG. 
  • Learn from appropriate training and development programs. 
  • Carry out any other duties as may be required.
Safeguarding 
  • Work in compliance with/ uphold MAG's Safeguarding framework - Policy on Personal Conduct, Protection of  Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy, Dignity at Work Policy, Reporting Malpractice (Whistleblowing) Policy,  Equal Opportunities Policy and Policy on Modern Slavery 
  • Encourage an open and transparent way of working that facilitates a strong safeguarding culture within and  between teams  
  • Ensure that all staff understand the provisions clearly and challenge any unacceptable behaviour  ∙ Ensure that any concerns, reports or complaints are taken seriously and investigated promptly and thoroughly 
     
Selection criteria 
  • ∙ The candidate should have an understanding of NGOs and a commitment to humanitarian work. ∙ He/she should participate and achieve the necessary results in the Basic Demining and IED Clearance  Course (BDC, IED). 
  • ∙ He/she should be healthy and fit. 
  • ∙ She/she should have driving license.
