MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Teaches skills in music understanding/appreciation, harmony, explorations in music and choral music to elementary pupils.
-
Plans/executes a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
-
Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
-
Encourages students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible.
-
Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils.
-
Maintains care/responsibility for school‐owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.
-
Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
-
Evaluates each pupil’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding.
-
Assesses each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group.
-
Additional Related Duties/Responsibilities: Selects appropriate music, books and instructional aids to enhance learning and requisitions musical instruments and instructional supplies as necessary.

Cooperation with Building Principal and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs.
-
Communicates with parents and school staff on individual student’s progress.

Ability to bend, crouch, kneel to assist students pushing/pulling and lifting of musical equipment and supplies, sitting in chairs and/or floor and reaching in all directions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Fluency in Arabic. Knowledge in English and Kurdish is desirable.

MA or BA in Music is required.

Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form

Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities as well as dependable work ethic

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses

Ability to read blueprints, drawings, calipers, tape measures and angle gauges.

Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.

Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.

Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.

Follow all safety rules and quality standards

Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals.

Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to factional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents.
