Here, the aim is to promote social cohesion, create income opportunities and revitalise the local economy. These measures are being implemented in the autonomous region of Kurdistan and in central Iraq. About the Project

This position is part of the “Financial Inclusion for Economic Restart and Integration in Iraq” (FI) Project team in Iraq. Mainly focusing on activities related to supporting the development of inclu-sive financial services and other tasks. The FI project is a multi-donor action commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the special initiative “Tackling the Root Causes of Displacement, Reintegrating Refugees/Partnership for Pro-spect,” co-funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The project aims to sustainably improve financial inclusion and access to inclusive financial services for vulnerable target groups.

 

Your Tasks

Responsibilities

This position in Baghdad supports the following main tasks:

  • Mapping of relevant stakeholders for financial inclusion of MSMEs in Iraq, including financial service offer assessment.
  • Design and implementing advisory and training measures for financial institutions in the area of product development, pilot testing, marketing and risk management.
  • Organising sector events and competitions to showcase innovation and foster exchange.
  • Adequate support to the Project Director and the team in project implementation matters, which includes planning, implementing, reporting, and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Assisting the project in identifying and liasing with financial institutions and partners and in maintaining excellent work relations with existing ones. 
  • Conceptualizing, drafting terms of reference, concept papers, reports, procurement documents, guiding analysis and assessments, reviewing texts and other project documents.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Project Director or the Deputy.

Your profile 

Required qualifications, competences, and experience 

Education: 

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business, Finance, Economics or similar)

Professional experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the financial sector in front/middle office functions such as credit department, sales, marketing, risk management etc. 
  • Good understanding of loan cycle management and lending to MSMEs 
  • Experience in lending/payment product development in financial institutions (microfinance institutions, banks, fintechs etc.) is an asset
  • Experience in stakeholder management (government, donors, NGOs) is an asset
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to details and deadlines regarding effective implementation, planning, monitoring and evaluation of project activities 
  • Very good written and oral knowledge of English and Arabic
  • Diplomatic approaches and cultural sensibility are a prerequisite
  • Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills.
