The Iraq Community Resilience Initiative – Ta’afi (ICRI-Ta’afi) is a United States Agency for International Development Office of Transition Initiatives (USAID/OTI) program implemented by Chemonics International in Iraq. ICRI-Ta’afi aims to increase stability in Iraq by supporting accelerated recovery in conflict-affected areas, improvement of the public’s perception of local leadership, and strengthened social fabric of Iraqi communities.
Reporting: Media adviser will be reporting to Program Manager.
Work Location and Number of Vacancies: The position is based in Duhok-Iraq. (1) vacancy.
Responsibilities:

Review open source research to better understand the Iraqi news outlet operating and business environment
-
Interview key informants on operating in the Iraqi news scene, including the heads of Iraqi media outlets, donors operating in this sector, and researchers
-
Meet with current program partners to better understand current sustainability plans
Deliverables Upon completion of the assignment, will submit a report detailing the following:
-
provide a background on the current status of news outlets in Iraq with a focus on local news outlets
-
identify challenges and opportunities facing the sustainability of local news outlets
-
analyse potential income sources for local news outlets
-
identify any business trends facing local news outlets with a focus on digital outlets
-
outline recommendations to support the sustainability of local news outlets
-
Recommend programs and shows that attract traffic to the media channel in line with program objectives.
Qualification or minimum requirements.

Bachelor’s degree in Media, Business Management or equivalent fields.

Minimum 4 years in media services and/or graduated
-
Fluency in Kurmaju-Kurdish, Arabic, and English is required
