Main purpose of the job:

Perform basic counselling and/or educational activities to patients, caretakers following MSF protocols and procedures, in order to improve the health condition of the Covid-19 severe patients in the ICU and bring a mental health support to the family and caretakers.

Accept and apply MSF principles, values and internal regulations. Apply MSF protocols and adhere to the rules implemented by MSF within COVID-19 hospital
Accountabilities:
-
Actively promote the availability of Mental Health services within MSF Covid 19 centre
-
Carry out and adapt individually or in group , basic counselling and/or educational sessions, to patients, their families, hospital staff with messages adapted to Covid 19 context.

Report to the line manager in case a patient or caretaker with mental health issues needs more support than he/she could provide in order to provide the best available support

Collect and report specific information related to the target group

Keep files and statistics updated about the counselling and/or educational activities

In the internal waiting area, explains and ensure that caretakers understand the reason why they cannot have access to the ICU.

Deliver mental support covid 19 related talks while caretakers are waiting.
Specific requirements for the role:
-
Essential secondary education level diploma in counselling, social work, psychology or other similar degree/diploma

Essential 1 year experience in a similar position

Desirable experience with MSF or other NGOS

Essential Fluency in Arabic ; desirable basic knowledge of English

Essential: Strong communication skills (attentive listening, open attitude) and knowledge on transferring messages to the community
