Key Responsibility Areas (KRA):
Lab Engineer is expected to cover the following KRAs:
KRA 1- Testing.

Receive samples (tank, truck, test request, etc.). Check all information of samples & clearly label samples.

Make sure there is sufficient quantity of samples prior to commencing testing.

Ensure all test equipment is thoroughly checked and correctly prepared prior to commencing testing.

Ensure samples are prepared in strict accordance with the relevant ASTM standard procedure.
-
Carry out all testing in strict accordance with the established Bedyal lab procedure and the relevant ASTM standard procedure.
KRA 2- Documentation.

Record all test results in both hard and soft copy and file in the designated folders.
-
Record all work performed during the shift in both hard and soft copy.
-
Prepare reports (tank, truck, certificate of quality, density, invoice, etc.) and ensure delivery to the relevant party in accordance with the established Bedyal lab procedure.

Maintain accurate records for all samples stored, issued and received.
KRA 3- Reporting.

Report immediately to the Lab Manager any emergency situation, test failure, equipment malfunction or any other anomaly.

Report verbally to Lab Manager at the end of the shift about all work done in the laboratory or any action needed, and that a comprehensive handover to the next shift is recorded in the lab logbook.

Perform the duties of the Lab Manager when the Lab Manager is absent, and report directly to the Control Room Manager for the duration of such absence.
KRA 4 – Lab Operations & General

Participate in the routine set-up and calibration of laboratory equipment.

Participate with the Laboratory Manager in the development of laboratory analytical procedures and SOPs covering safety, equipment calibration (IBNLT ISO 10012-1), correlation program, and sampling (IBNLT ASTM D-4057) of conveyances and static storage tanks.

Assist in acquisition and inventory maintenance of required laboratory equipment, glassware, reagents, safety equipment and other expendables.

Keeping up to date with the ASTM/EN/UOP/IP/ISO analytical procedures and participate in training programs to facilitate such where required.
Education / Personal Qualification:
Education:
-
Bachelor or diploma degree in Chemical engineering, oil engineering, chemist or equivalent.
Experience:
-
0-2 years of Experience as Lab analyst or Lab assistant
Knowledge:
-
Knowledge of oil laboratory principles
-
Knowledge of data entry procedures
-
Oil field expertise
-
Knowledge of ASTM & IP lab procedure standard
-
Familiarity with ISO Standards
