Title: Junior Technical Advisor 
Reports to: Head of Program
 
A. Background 
The GIZ project “Sport for Development” aims to provide sport activities in IDP and refugee camps as well as in host communities as a means of psychosocial support, violence prevention and conflict transformation. The project capacitates trainers, multipliers and social workers in the holistic and sustainable Sport for Development-methodology and provides sport equipment to implementation sites. The position will be based in the GIZ Office in Dohuk with frequent trips including overnight stays to Erbil and Sulemaniya.
 
 B. Responsibilities 
The Junior Technical Advisor is responsible for 
• Development and introduction of implementation structure in Iraq including preparing and conducting workshops in Kurdistan region, train potential instructors (ToT workshops) and support the development of training material for the Iraqi context 
• Technical supervision and coordination of the instructors who conduct workshops 
• Organizational development of partners 
• Organization and coordination of workshops with different implementation partners 
• Development of strategy and structure of workshops with implementation partners 
• Monitoring and evaluation of workshops with different implementation partners 
• Active involvement in strengthening existing partnerships and building up new partnerships
 • Participation at GIZ events and trainings 
• Support of administrative and logistic processes 
 
The Junior Technical Advisor performs the following tasks:
 C. Tasks
1. Planning and implementation 
The position holder 
• organizes, prepares, implements and evaluates train the trainer courses with and without implementation partners with project manager support
 • organizes, prepares, implements and evaluates coaching sessions for children in coordination with the project advisor
 • develops, organises and implements quality assurance measures in coordination with the project advisor
 • assists in the development of the Sport for Development manual and other education materials
 • monitors the development and implementation of project plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts in coordination with project advisor 
• prepares contracts with partner organisations
 
 2. Networking and Cooperation 
The position holder 
▪ participates in internal and external meetings and workshops whenever needed
 ▪ helps organise events and documents meetings, workshops and seminars within the project 
▪ cooperates and dialogues with partner institutions and maintains good working relationships 
▪ communicates interests and efforts, forwards these and encourages sharing ideas and information for the benefit of the project with partner institutions 
 
3. Knowledge management 
The position holder 
▪ assists in drawing up reports and presentation documents 
▪ prepares appropriate input for various project reports 
▪ supports the development, evaluation and translation of training/coaching materials 
▪ supports project documentation 
▪ insures knowledge transfer to knowledge information system 
 
4. Coordination 
The position holder 
▪ prepares and organises needed materials for events and activities and 
▪ provides onsite logistical arrangements 
▪ coordinates relevant project activities in consultation with project manager 
▪ coordinates and assures the smooth processing of related administration functions 
 
5. Other duties/additional tasks 
The position holder
 ▪ carries out other related tasks for the project, even if these are not explicitly cited in the job description 
▪ drives the project car
 ▪ regularly checks the changes in GIZ Orientation and Regulations Tool (O+R) in relation to field of work 
▪ represents the interest and always acts on behalf of GIZ 
 
D. Required qualifications, competences and experience Qualifications 
▪ Bachelor Degree Professional experience 
▪ Experience in the train the trainers (ToT) approach and knowledge of methods to train trainers 
▪ Knowledge of the sport for development methodology, especially in football 
▪ Experience in working in the IDP and refugee context 
▪ Existing network with partners in the IDP and refugee context in KRI Other knowledge, additional competences 
▪ Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office) 
▪ Outstanding communication skills 
▪ Good management and organisational skills 
▪ Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management 
▪ Willingness to travel in KRI, Central Iraq and Jordan 
▪ Motivated and ready to work in an international context and motivated team 
▪ Passionate Sportsman/woman Language skills: Fluent (excellent) spoken and written skills in English, Kurdish (Badini) and Arabic. Kurdish (Sorani) is an asset
