The duty station for the “Junior Project Coordinator - Academic Research & Economic Reform” is the GIZ Baghdad Office.

Responsibilities

The position will support the line manager to provide information on the economic environment and establish a wide range of contacts in relevant Iraqi (research) institutions.

The position will be working with a research network on economic issues in Iraq, which will be able to offer quality research to government entities.

This network is to be institutionalised in a sustainable way, which includes finding an appropriate legal form and setting up a structure to enable the network to organise itself in the future.

Securing the continued existence of the network by searching for and promoting young researchers.

This will include identifying, planning and implementing capacity-building measures in universities, think tanks and other research institutions.
Tasks
Planning & Monitoring

The position holder provides local, practical and academic knowledge to the project planning process.
-
The position is responsible for results assessment according to GIZ standard M&E schemes with the preparation of reports and public relation material.
Implementation
-
Support the implementation of the project plan in coordination with the head of field of action.

Take full responsibility for certain activities according to the standard project cycle.
Other duties/additional tasks
The position holder will support the project with any additional task if necessary.
Required qualifications, competencies and experience
Professional experience
-
Ideally a bachelor’s degree in economics, business, social science, political economics or relevant fields.

First experiences in project management, research, research consultancy, academic or political organisations are an advantage.

Experiences in organisation building or research network management/building is a strong advantage.

Proven work experience in international development cooperation organisations is an advantage.

Above average academic Arabic and fluent English language proficiencies are mandatory (written and spoken).
