Chemonics International seeks applications from qualified candidates for the position of IT and Information Security Specialist for the Iraq Regional Program (IRP) based in Erbil, Iraq. IRP is a USAID project that aims to promote an inclusive and stable Iraq; assist persecuted, conflict-affected populations; and support stabilization and recovery efforts. The IT and Information Security Specialist has the primary responsibility for maintaining the quality and security of the project’s IT systems in the main and field offices, focused on both systems management and information security. 
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Recommending IT configurations and specifications, and providing technical assistance, training and support as needed in all locations.
  • S/he ensures that all project computers are purchased, installed and functioning. The IT and Information Security Specialist is also responsible for maintaining the client grant database and ensuring proper data entry submissions. 
  • S/he will work with the grants managers and program development officers to ensure that the database is properly functioning and making updates as needed.
  • Work with project team members to ensure that computer and other information system 
 
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; postgraduate degree is preferred. 
  • Minimum four years of progressively responsible experience in IT management in complex operating environments. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local IT service providers and IT infrastructure requirements in Iraq. 
  • Demonstrated experience and extensive knowledge of IT network system management and maintenance. 
  • Experience with data security tools and protocols. 
  • Experience in training staff of varying levels of IT capabilities. 
  • Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow staff members, visitors, partner institutions including international and local NGOs, governmental entities, support organizations, and the general public. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to prioritize multiple work assignments in an extremely fast-paced environment, to meet deadlines, and to exercise good, professional judgment that communicates the established message of the program. 
  • Working proficiency in office computer applications, including MS Word, and Excel. 
  • Fluency in written and oral Arabic and English is required; Written and oral fluency in Kurdish, and other local languages is a plus, but not required.
