POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications person will manage the organization’s social media in Iraq, design public affairs materials, manage media relations, and facilitate social media communications. Working closely with other team members, generate and design interesting and attractive content for use across a range of social media including the website, Facebook, Twitter, organizational newsletter, and printed and email promotional materials.
The communications person will be responsible for implementing the communication strategy and plan activities in line with donor guidelines. And will work closely with the global communication person of Field Ready.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are illustrative responsibilities that are expected to evolve over time and depend on the organizational and programmatic needs. The responsibilities for this task include but are not limited to:

Develop, write and edit marketing and communications materials, including press releases, blog posts and social media content.

Promote communications and marketing materials through appropriate social channels. ∙ Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards. ∙ Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.

Working closely with other team members, generate and design interesting, up-to-date, and attractive content that represents Field Ready’s work in Iraq.

Contribute to Communications and Messaging.

Create information, messages, talking points and materials about Field Ready’s work in Iraq. ∙ Communicate with local and international media to promote Field Ready’s work to field media inquiries and pitch stories.

Create, execute and implement an outreach strategy for Field Ready Iraq projects including development and coordination of promo materials for various target groups including prospective makers, students and businesses.

Manage the country social media platform and increase engagement

Collect stories that can be used for the Field Ready’s newsletter, website, Facebook page or other office-wide.

Collaborate with the global team in social media (promotion, increase interactivity, storytelling).

Provide communication support/training to members and start-up in co-working space on communications.

Assist with other more general communication activities.

Oversees creative and effective ways to improve program communications. ∙ Supports the project staff in preparation of materials for outreach and other project activities. ∙ Provides support as needed for project events.

Conducts translation/interpretation as needed to support project implementation and communications.
QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS

Skilled and experienced background in working across the various disciplines that are part of communications (outlined above). The best candidates will possess a combination of the following:

A minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in a prior comparable position and preferably with international NGOs;

Clear interest in development aid, youth and employment.

Proven experience in designing and implementing outreach and communication strategies. ∙ Excellent English and Kurdish language skills; Arabic is highly preferable

Understand the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, etc. ∙ Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content. ∙ Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team.

Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously. ∙ Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator is an asset.

Photography skills an asset;

Experience with graphic design an asset;

Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices. ∙ Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication efforts. ∙ Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction. ∙
