The Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Unit is seeking four highly motivated candidates to join our team as Investment Officers.

About the FDI Unit

The FDI Unit is a new division within the Board of Investment of the Kurdistan Regional Government. The unit’s mission is to attract foreign investors by promoting Kurdistan and showcasing investment opportunities in the region. The candidates will be part of a highly dynamic team of experts responsible for various activities, ranging from sector analysis, identification of investment opportunities, handling investors’ inquiries, public affairs, communications and social media management, identification of local partners and providers, and supporting FDI Unit administrative and program activities. 

The FDI Unit will provide a daily one-to-one skill-building program for all Investment Officers. The initial engagement is under a trial work period. Once the trial period finished, and the contract is extended, each Officer will go through an additional capacity-building program. The professional development program aims to enhance new team members' expertise in investment promotion.

You will provide support on the following tasks: 

  • Conduct research on economic sectors 
  • Monitor and forecast regional and global FDI trends 
  • Analyze opportunities for foreign investment 
  • Produce presentations 
  • Prepare reports and other written deliverables. 
  • Organize meetings, events and activities 
  • Manage relationships with existing stakeholders and cultivate new networks 
  • Manage social media channels and communications

  • Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Law, Marketing, Communications, Agriculture, Tourism or other relevant fields 
  • 0-4 years of work experience
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in Kurdish and English 
  • Excellent research, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, writing, communication, and presentation skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow specific tasks through to completion
  • Creative problem solving 
  • Capacity to work independently, with excellent time management, organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple work assignments under time pressure and strict deadlines 
  • Flexibility and eagerness to learn, contribute, and grow 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams, and Google Workspace 
  • Kurdish National 
  • Comprehensive skill and capacity building on investment and other related areas 
  • Possibility of promotion and long-term contract based on performance
  •  Working Days: 5 days a week (Sunday - Thursday) 
  •  Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM 
  •  Period: Initial two-months probation period*
  •  Salary: Based on your previous work experience and future work performance.
*If you pass the probation period, you will sign a 6month contract, and if you pass the second stage you will sign annual contracts. 
Senior Level 
  • Advanced degree in specialty. Additional professional credentials preferred such as a master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field, CPA, industrial or other professional certifications that denote specific technical, business, or industry qualifications relevant to technical areas. 
  • At least 4 years of work experience in the technical area with increasing senior level experience and supervisory responsibility. 
  • Relevant and geographic work experience implementing similar technical assistance programs for international donors or companies preferred. 
  • Demonstrated professional excellence, excellent communications and writing ability in English and Kurdish languages as required. 
  • Advanced degree in a relevant technical field with relevant professional certification(s) desired. 
  • At least 2 years of work experience in relevant technical areas. 
  • Relevant and geographic work experience implementing similar projects. 
  • Demonstrated professional excellence and communications and writing in English Kurdish languages as required. 
  • B.S./B.A. required with relevant professional certification(s) or master’s degree preferred. 
  • Excellent communication and writing ability in English and Kurdish is required.
