Objective: 
Provide professors and teachers with the skills needed to identify potential early stage radicalization in youth and young adults so that preventative or de-radicalization measures can be taken.
 
Background:

Deradicalisation, Training Teachers (DTT) is one of SPARK’s projects in Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I) which is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This pilot project will provide training of teachers and skills transfer to teachers at university level and secondary school level so they are able to identify potential early stage radicalization of youth and young adults. DTT will work with two universities and secondary schools in Erbil and Halabja.
SPARK is currently looking for an International CVE specialist Trainer; to deliver the training programme for high school teachers and university professors on early signs of radicalization among young people. The Trainer will develop training material and deliver the training. Four rounds of training will be undertaken two at each location in Erbil and Halabja. The training will be interactive and based on practical examples so that delegates learn by doing. The proposed training must be delivered in a combination of lectures, case studies of other countries with learning points if relevant, and exercises where participants are challenged to apply the training directly to Kurdish practice.
 
 The main responsibilities will be:-
  • Develop training materials;
  • Develop the concept of the de-radicalization and the potential signs of the radical in youth (including agenda, working methods and Procedures, handouts and evaluation forms) which will be discussed with the Project Team;
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality of CVE training;
  • Carry out stakeholder analysis to bring out the roles and responsibilities of key players and institutions;
  • Prepare course materials (power point presentation) and participants handbooks;
  • Deliver the training in Erbil and Halabja to the 40 educators;
  • Develop Training of Trainers (ToT) materials so that the courses can be easily replicated and rolled out to other schools and universities;
  • Complete training related administrative tasks to specific standards
  • Elaborate and submit the final report on the trainings.
  • Other related tasks as required.
 
REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Qualifications:
Post-graduate or equivalent qualification/degree in Law, Criminology, Human rights, Political Science, Development Study, Humanities, Religious Affairs or any other relevant discipline.
Years of experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the field of training, De-radicalization, CVE, human rights, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting need assessments and developing training modules/curriculum, training materials, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting training in the field of CVE.
Competencies and special skills requirement:
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent communications skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective planning and organization skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English
  • Knowledge in Arabic language is preferable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with persons of different ethnicity and cultural background;
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proven experience in designing multiple training events in a corporate setting
Place and date:
  • The assignment will take place in Erbil and Halabja, in Kurdistan Region of Iraq from the 20th of February till 20th of April
