The internship is ideal for students or recent graduates as it gives the opportunity to get to know GIZ’s work in Iraq, thereby conducting capacity development through on the job training. GIZ Iraq offers to all interns an appropriate expense allowance that is not a salary for services rendered but should cover expenses of the intern on a lump sum basis. The expense allowance provided by GIZ is 600 USD per month. The internship is a full time position of 40 working hours per week for 4 to 6 month. Public Holidays are respected as well as individual holidays are occurred according to GIZ rules. The internship does not constitute employment with GIZ.
Background
The intern supports the work of the GIZ project “Sport for Development” which aims to provide sport activities in IDP and refugee camps as well as in host communities as a means of psychosocial support, violence prevention and conflict transformation. The project capacitates trainers, teachers and social workers in the holistic and sustainable Sport for Development-methodology and provides sport equipment to implementation sites.
The internship will be based in the GIZ Office in Erbil with frequent trips including overnight stays to Dohuk.

Programmatic Tasks The intern

Support the translation of workshop contents from English to Badini/Arabic and vice versa

Support to preparations and follow up of leaning material development

Support the preparation, conduction and follow up of workshops

Support to preparations and follow up of the necessary paperwork for the project
Administrative Tasks The intern

Undertakes administrative tasks such as preparation of paperwork for administrative processes

Attending meetings and preparing meeting minutes and reports

Required qualifications, competencies and experience
Qualifications

secondary school education and enrollment in university in the subjects of business administration, social sciences, sport sciences or similar is an asset OR University degree

Professional experience

experience in office and project support are an asset

understanding of and first experience in the “Sport for Development” approach, psychosocial support measures and violence prevention tools are an asset
