Job Summary

The Data Governance and Data Quality Analyst will provide quality assurance oversight (data and document error detection and correction) on processes where data and document are collected, stored, transformed, or used. The Analyst is responsible for assisting the teams in integrating data assets from a variety of systems and sources (external and internal) into Company’s systems, ensuring and monitoring the final quality of our internal data and document stores and flows.

The Analyst is also responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining data solutions to accomplish technology and business goals. Key responsibilities include data governance tasks associated with the integration, cleaning, transformation and control of data and document in operational and analytics data systems. They work with stakeholders and business owners to aid in the governance of data to include contributing to efforts to capture and manage the control inventory, measuring effectiveness of controls, managing data quality and document control requirements to resolve data quality gaps/issues, and manage all forms of business, technical and operational metadata.

The Analyst ensures compliance to established data quality and document control procedures while reporting and developing new data quality measures. The Data Governance and Data Quality Analyst creates, documents, and maintains processes and procedures and collaborate with the teams and business users to improve workflows and streamline processes.

The Data Governance and Data Quality Analyst is responsible for aiding and ensuring corporate-wide data governance activities. The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to a corporate data governance framework for data and document policies, standards, and practices, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality, security and protection to meet overall business digital needs.

The Data Governance and Data Quality Analyst also controls documents, makes sure everyone is on the same page when they need to be. The Analyst creates, designs, and maintains the architecture for document processes and procedures and enforce the proper chain of action and document identification. The Analyst also goes through controlled documents and makes edits, updates, and checks for accuracy when needed. Once this process is complete, The Analyst distributes it to the correct internal and external persons and coordinates the document workflows. The Analyst needs to have an extensive understanding of document management systems and tools, and be able to handle document access intaking and archiving responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understands the decision-making process, workflows, and business and information needs of business unit heads and owners
  • Supports the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data governance and document management systems and solutions
  • Implements standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality and document management
  • Ensures technology solutions are in alignment with data governance and document control principles and target state
  • Oversees end-to-end data and document life cycle management activities
  • Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies for data and document management, storage, and archiving.
  • Works with business partners to understand requirements for data and document use, analysis, and quality
  • Executes Digital/ICS Projects documentation
  • Ensures Digital/ICS Projects assistance when needed
  • Aids to execute Digital/ICS Operations Digital Twin platforms
  • Ensures that all controlled Quality documents related to the business owners needs and processes are maintained to the latest issue, and that these documents are made available at all locations where operations essential to the effective functioning of the Data Quality Management Principles are performed
  • Manages documentation related to data quality (data standards, definitions, DQA documents such as checklists, guidelines, manuals, templates, forms, etc.)
  • Verifies the last revision documents and data
  • Maintains data/documents distribution record
  • Controls & maintains the system for issuance recording / filing, tracking, retrieval of documents like procedures, plans, QA/QC records, specifications, and related documents.
  • Ensures documents based on the quality procedures for internal and external audit.
  • Executes transmittal of data and documents
  • Prepares and updates of various logs and registers
  • Defines and implements the Data Governance program metrics, tracks and publishes results.
  • Defines and documents best practices in Data Governance.
  • Designs templates for documents, file types, and document databases.
  • Checks and edits documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Controls the flow of documents in and out of the related business functions.
  • Reports errors or developments regarding document management systems.
  • Updates and maintains document management systems and physical records when needed.
  • Maintains the security of confidential documents.
  • Assists users with accessing documents through our document management system.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots and documents data quality and document control issues from internal and external business owners
  • Ensures compliance with the company’s data privacy policy
  • Manages documentation related to data quality (data standards, definitions, DQA documents such as checklists, guidelines, manuals, templates, forms, etc.)
  • Contributes to management of central data stores and metadata
  • Ensures data governance and document management
  • Executes change management
  • Establishes the test environment for data and tools
  • Responds and complies IT and security audits, penetration, and vulnerability tests
  • Coordinates with the third-party service providers and consultants for the systems’ high- availability ratios, highest IT Audit and Maturity Assessment scores for digital operations
  • Establishes and maintains solid working relationships with peer departments, 3rd party service providers and vendors to ensure that the ICS teams meet service-level agreements.
  • Implements annual departmental goals and strategies, addresses department needs, and compares operations to industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to collect business requirements, define successful outcomes
  • Builds trust in all interactions and with Trusted Data and Document Development
  • Creates and maintains architecture and systems documentation in the Data Handbooks
  • Maintains the Data Catalog, documents plans and results in the handbook, or READMEs.
  • Researches, evaluates, recommends, and implements new technologies.
  • Actively participates in resolving high-priority outages, troubleshooting efforts, and capacity/availability planning sessions.
  • Conducts regular checks, reviews and monitors for all live systems and services, ensures high availability and issue resolution.
  • Cleans data so that it complies with data hygiene best practices
  • Organizes and transform the data in a meaningful way and providing additional context as necessary so that it is ready for the teams and business owners
  • Maintains documentation related to datasets and analysis and ensuring that everyone on the data team uses the same language and definitions

Other Responsibilities

  • Acts as a mentor for the Digital and ICS Operations team, forming a tight partnership for the mutual success of the teams. Ensures information is flowing freely between the Digital and ICS teams to minimize siloed operations and engineering.

Skills and Qualification
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, informatics, petroleum engineering, or a similar field.
  • Master's degree may be preferred

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years managing data quality and assurance, and document management operations,
  • Expertise of data governance and document management strategies and development preferably within the oil and gas industry
  • Expertise of data governance and document management implementations and technologies
  • Expertise of master data management, metadata management, data quality, data assurance, document control and management
  • Familiar with GDPR rules
  • Experience of understanding business requirements
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
  • Knowledge of document management systems (minimum 3 years of MS SharePoint and MS Teams experience is a plus)
  • Project Management, Big Data, Data Management and Governance certifications may be advantageous
  • Understanding of data and document management in Oil and Gas industry
  • Ability to guide solution design and architecture to meet business needs
  • Understanding of requirements analysis
