Position Summary: 
Genel Energy is an independent E&P company listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange. Headquartered in London with offices in Turkey, Kurdistan Region of Iraq "KRI," Morocco & Somaliland, Genel is one of the largest London-listed independent oil producers and is the largest reserve resource holder in KRI. 
We are steadily growing our business through the appraisal and development of our assets in KRI and value-accretive acquisitions, building a high-impact exploration portfolio within the Middle East and Africa while expanding our Kurdistan footprint. 
The HR Specialist will report to the HR Lead and be based in Erbil's office with frequent traveling to our Sulaymaniyah office and other field sites. The purpose of the role is to support the HR Lead with all the HR functions related to the Company's operations in KRI. 
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment
  • Responsibility for job advertisements and application filtering;
  • Scheduling and management of candidate interviews, providing feedback, obtaining necessary internal approvals;
  • Liaise with the hiring managers to prepare interview forms and written exams;
  • Conduct pre-employment suitability checks for all staff, including references, medical checks, and due diligence forms.
Onboarding
  • Preparation and management of the work permit and residency processes in collaboration with other departments;
  • Liaise with relevant departments to manage mobilization of out of the country and local hires;
  • Organize HR Induction sessions between the HR Lead and all new joiners;
  • Provide support to all personnel in all aspects of onboarding.
Payroll
  • Processing accurate and timely payroll process, including 3rd party contractors;
  • Control of invoice payments against HR budget using internal system (EAM), ensuring prompt payment;
  • Participate in salary surveys.
Performance Management
  • Support cyclical HR activities such as performance reviews, talent management reviews, engagement surveys, etc.;
  • Supports the Performance Management Processes via Cezanne and by coaching managers and employees;
  • Coordinates activities, information meetings, and various training programs as required.
Administration
  • Update personnel records and ensure the documentation is appropriate and up-to-date, using the HRIS (Cezanne);
  • Maintaining personnel files and administering payroll changes, i.e., new hires, transfers, promotions;
  • Regular contact with regional HR team members, international offices, and various departments to ensure a timely flow of information;
  • Supports the implementation of the Company's HR policies and processes;
  • Uphold and promote Genel company values;
  • Other duties as assigned by line-manager.
 
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Administration, or any other relevant discipline;
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a similar HR role, preferably within oil and gas;
  • Native Kurdish with fluency in written and oral English;
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft applications;
  • Good understanding of Iraqi Labour law and ministerial instruction for recruitment of personnel by International Oil Companies;
  • Experience in working in a customer-oriented professional environment within an international team;
  • High standards of discretion;
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential;
