We are looking for an experienced HR Manager with excellent communication skills and outstanding people skills to take ownership of all HR matters across the company from recruitment to performance reviews, wage reviews, disciplinary action, and learning and development. To perform well in this role, you should have experience as a HR Manager, or other senior roles in the HR team, and knowledge around all legal requirements in this role.
To ensure success, you are expected to be knowledgeable with employment legislation and possess strategic and commercial insight to the labor process. You must be able to negotiate with diplomacy. You should display excellent organizational skills, good time-management skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. The top candidate should possess high work ethics, remarkable conflict management and decision-making skills to ensure employee compliance. The exceptional HR Director should improve HR processes, implement strategies that support business growth, improve morale and employee retention, enhance safety and wellness, strengthen relations between staff and employers, manage job satisfaction, attract the best recruits, and promote the organization's values.
Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing human resources policies.
  • Developing clear policies and ensuring policy awareness.
  • Supporting strategic objectives.
  • Updating company policies and ensuring legal compliance.
  • Hiring staff and negotiating employment agreements.
  • Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Managing staff wellness and performance reviews.
  • Motivating and supporting current staff.
  • Maintaining staff records.
  • Handling employee benefits.
  • Consistently recruiting an excellent staff.
  • Maintaining a smooth onboarding process.
  • Training, counseling, and coaching our staff.
  • Resolving conflicts through positive and professional mediation.
  • Carrying out necessary administrative duties.
  • Conducting performance and wage reviews.
  • Creating clear and concise reports.
  • Giving helpful and engaging presentations.
  • Maintaining and reporting on workplace health and safety compliance.
  • Handling workplace investigations, disciplinary and termination procedures.
  • Maintaining employee and workplace privacy.
  • Leading a team of junior human resource managers.
  • Identifying staffing needs.
  • Preparing job descriptions, advertising vacant positions, and managing the employment process.
  • Orientating new employees and training existing employees.
  • Monitoring employee performance.
  • Ensuring that all employees are organized and satisfied in their work environment.
  • Overseeing the health and safety of all employees.
  • Implementing systematic staff development procedures.
  • Providing counseling on policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring meticulous implementation of payroll and benefits administration.
  • Communicating with staff about issues affecting their performance.
  • Ensuring accurate and proper record-keeping of employee information in electronic and digital format.
  • Designing and directing training programs.
  • Processing internal arrangements such as travel, training sessions, and team-building events.
  • Maintaining internal records, which may include preparing, issuing and filing company documentation (e.g. sick leave, maternity leave, etc.).
  • Communicating with recruiters and other external parties.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all personnel queries.
  • Setting up interviews and corresponding with prospective employees in a timely manner.
  • Travel is necessary to visit sites and staying on the project for a designated duration.  
  • Working hours are typically standard office hours, but strict deadlines mean longer hours, weekends and being on-call are all possible and expected.
 
Skills and Requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or equivalent. Masters is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Human Resources.
  • Additional training/certification in Payroll Management – may be advantageous.
  • Labor Relations certification – may be advantageous.
  • Experience as a Skills Development Facilitator – may be advantageous.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Experience in educating and coaching staff.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations.
  • Experience in following and maintaining workplace privacy.
  • Ability to give presentations.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety laws.
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Computer literacy. Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Able to engage in meaningful negotiation and resolution.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Protecting the interests of all employees.
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
