ABOUT FIVE ONE LABS: 

Five One Labs is a start-up incubator that helps talented entrepreneurs from Iraq and Syria to launch and grow their businesses. We aim to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and livelihoods and contribute to the economic growth of their communities. 

Based in Erbil and Sulaimani, Five One Labs creates flexible programs for entrepreneurs that are focused on human-centered design, the core building blocks of business fundamentals, and leadership development. Our trainers are steeped in lean startup and design thinking methodology, and thus our trainings are hands-on, active, and highly practical for early-stage entrepreneurs. 

As part of our efforts to provide entrepreneurs with all of the support they need to launch and grow their businesses, we are looking for creative/graphic design support to ensure that our materials are interactive, well-designed and easy-to-use. The graphic designer will specifically support this project.

ABOUT THE ROLE: 

We are looking for a creative graphic designer to support our team in two main ways. First, they will help design the graphics of our training materials for our different entrepreneurship programs. The designer will take the lead on developing the design for the training materials and support documents with the Five One Labs team. Second, they will support the marketing team to develop graphics and help maintain brand consistency among all of our materials. The graphic designer will have a key role in ensuring that all of our materials are appealing to our audience of entrepreneurs and both easy to read and use.

Note: This is a short-term project that should be completed by mid-August. 

The successful candidate will support Five One Labs to:

• Develop a uniform branded/design scheme and applicable templates (PPTs, documents, handouts, etc.) to be used for marketing efforts and all future training materials 

• Develop concepts, graphics, icons and color schemes to existing Powerpoint presentations and supporting training materials

• Support the marketing team in the creation of marketing materials (brochures, handouts) and social media graphics

• Support the training and marketing team in understanding how to use the designs so that they are prepared to update and change PPTs or marketing materials in the future,

• Ensure that there is continuity of design between the PPTs, supporting materials, and Five One Labs to maintain brand consistency,

• Support the training and marketing teams to ensure that all materials can be available in three languages (English, Kurdish, and Arabic),

• Other tasks as required for this project.

The Graphic Designer will work closely with the training and marketing teams in Sulaimani and Erbil. The team will ensure that the selected candidate has access to all relevant materials and support to succeed in his or her role.

The Five One Labs team is seeking candidates with the following profile:

Skills and Knowledge

• A degree, or equivalent, in design/graphic design or suitable professional experience

• 3-5 years professional experience in graphic design

• Experience working with various softwares, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro

• High level of creativity

• Accuracy and attention to detail 

• Openness to feedback and improvement

• Ability to multitask and manage priorities confidently and with minimal supervision;

• Fluency in English; knowledge of Kurdish and Arabic a plus

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Team-oriented and excited about working with and supporting others;

• Outgoing and positive;

• Attention to detail, conscientious about accuracy and professional presentation at all times

• Self-starter personality – able to initiate and lead projects or tasks with minimal supervision;

• Experience working and thriving in multicultural teams.

The position will be based in Sulaimani or Erbil, Iraq but remote applicants will be considered.
