Five One Labs is a start-up incubator that helps talented entrepreneurs from Iraq and Syria to launch and grow their businesses. We aim to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and livelihoods and contribute to the economic growth of their communities.
Based in Erbil and Sulaimani, Five One Labs creates flexible programs for entrepreneurs that are focused on human-centered design, the core building blocks of business fundamentals, and leadership development. Our trainers are steeped in lean startup and design thinking methodology, and thus our trainings are hands-on, active, and highly practical for early-stage entrepreneurs.
As part of our efforts to provide entrepreneurs with all of the support they need to launch and grow their businesses, we have partnered with Orange Corners and the American University of Iraq Sulaimani’s Entrepreneurship Initiative to launch the Roadmap2Startup, a comprehensive guide on the business registration process in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The graphic designer will specifically support this project.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for a creative graphic designer to support with the publication of our Roadmap2Startup guide, a comprehensive guide on the business registration process in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, this fall. The designer will take the lead on developing the design for the Roadmap2Startup PDF report and website in partnership with the Five One Labs team. The graphic designer will have a key role in ensuring that our report and website are appealing to our audience of entrepreneurs and both easy to read and use.
Note: This is a short-term project should be complete by the third week of October.
The successful candidate will support Five One Labs to:

Develop concepts, graphics, icons and color schemes for the PDF report and website

Determine the size and arrangement of materials, icons and logos, as well as font style and size
-
Support Roadmap2Startup team in embedding designs into website (Squarespace or Weebly)

Ensure that there is continuity of design between the PDF and website versions of the Roadmap and maintain brand consistency

Other tasks as required for this project
The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Roadmap2Startup team in Sulaimani. The team will ensure that the selected candidate has access to all relevant materials and support to succeed in his or her role.
The Five One Labs team is seeking candidates with the following profile:
Skills and Knowledge

A degree, or equivalent, in design/graphic design or suitable professional experience

Advanced knowledge in working with various software packages, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro

High levels of creativity

Accuracy and attention to detail when developing designs

Openness to feedback on designs

Ability to multitask and manage priorities confidently and with minimal supervision;

Fluency in English and Kurdish

Experience designing websites or working with Squarespace/Weebly would be beneficial but is not a requirement
