The Iraq Community Resilience Initiative – Ta’afi (ICRI-Ta’afi) is a United States Agency for International Development Office of Transition Initiatives (USAID/OTI) program implemented by Chemonics International in Iraq. ICRI-Ta’afi aims to increase stability in Iraq by supporting accelerated recovery in conflict-affected areas, improvement of the public’s perception of local leadership, and strengthened social fabric of Iraqi communities. 
The Grants Associate will report to the Grants Manager.
Work Location and Number of Vacancies:
The position is based in Erbil. (1) vacancy.
  • Establishes activity files upon yellow light for an activity. This includes establishing new electronic and physical files according to the activity’s file structure
  • Assists in the preparation of activity clearance packages by ensuring that all documentation required per the clearance checklist has been saved to the electronic and physical activity files and is included in the clearance package
  • During activity implementation, assists the grants manager with preparation of payment requests, ensuring all required documentation is included with the payment package and saved in the activity file
  • Assists the grants manager to monitor activity expenditures by updating activity budget trackers
  • Ensures that grants and activities are closed out within required time frames. The grants assistant will take the lead role in preparing grant documentation to ensure all activity files are complete and ready to be closed out in accordance with the activity file checklist.
  • Participates in the development and continuous improvement of the program strategic framework and objectives. Devises concepts for YL in collaboration with PDO and rest of GMU
  • Understands the necessary procedures, including documentation compliance requirements, at all stages of the activity cycle
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong organizational, management, and administrative skills
  • Experience with NGOs and/or community-based organizations and an up-to-date understanding and knowledge of political and social conditions in Iraq is preferred
  • Ability/willingness to travel throughout the country periodically
  • Experience managing activities and/or contracts for international organizations is highly desired
  • Experience with cash-based activities is preferred
  • Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow staff members, visitors, partner institutions including international and local NGOs, governmental entities, support organizations, and the general public
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize multiple work assignments in an extremely fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and exercise good, professional judgment
  • Possess creativity and analytical capacity to manage compliance issues and assist other staff in ensuring the implementation of activities
  • Strong analytical ability and knowledge of project objectives
  • Ability to effectively use computer software, including MS Word and Excel
  • Fluency in written and oral Arabic and English is required; written and oral fluency in Kurdish, and other local languages is a plus, but not required

  • Contract period: until 31 January 2022 without extension
  • Salary: The salary of this position falls under band FSN-06
  • The selected candidates will be vetted.
