Role of the Finance Officer
SEED is seeking a Finance Officer to work in SEED’s office in Erbil with occasional travel to other sites within KRI. The Finance Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks and duties assigned as per the scope of work.
Tasks

Record daily cash transactions in SEED accounting software system.

Ensure that all budgets are coded and set up in QuickBooks.

Ensure that the Fixed Asset Register is maintained and contains all relevant finance information

Maintain accurate records for the disbursement of cash and ensure that the cashbook is kept up to date for all cash payments.

Maintain a list of outstanding advances and ensure that all procedures over advances are strictly adhered to the SEED Policies.

Ensure there are adequate cash resources in the office to cover all planned activities and request cash when required.

Collect cash from bank and be SEED Foundation’s representative for day-to-day banking activities/requests.

Review all paperwork provided prior to writing cheques and making the payments.

Responsible for the disbursement of cash in accordance with SEED Foundation’s procedures.

Communication with Finance Manager and Senior Finance Officer; ensure receipt of timely financial and progress reports.

Maintain and implement good working knowledge of all project budgets.

Perform other duties as necessary, as assigned by supervisor.

Review and prepare bank transfers and payroll transfers.

Ensure weekly and month end cash counts are carried out and adequately approved as per SEED Foundation’s procedures.

Ensure full understanding of and adherence to SEED Foundation’s procedures.

Ensure adequate referencing and filing of paperwork.

Implement applicable SEED Foundation, donor and country laws regulations.

Essential criteria

Finance / Accounting Degree
-
Previous work experience in NGO’s in finance role.

Two or more years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including experience with double-entry accounting

Strong computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel

Familiarity with computerized, double-entry accounting software
-
Strong organizational skills as well as attention to detail

Excellent oral and written English skills and Arabic language skill
