The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in Iraq since 2014 and has maintained a country office in Baghdad since 2018. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Federal Foreign Office (AA) and the European Union (EU), GIZ is working on the three priority areas in Iraq. GIZ offers support in Iraq to help internally displaced people and host communities improve their living conditions. Here, the aim is to promote social cohesion, create income opportunities and revitalise the local economy. These measures are being implemented in the autonomous region of Kurdistan and in Federal Iraq. 

 

About the project 

The project aims at testing the effectiveness of selected financial and firm-level interventions in providing liquidity, building capacity for targeted small and growing businesses (SGBs), and mobilizing private investment.

 

 Your tasks Main Tasks

  • Cost/expenditure monitoring
  • Smooth functioning management of financial administration, such as cash withdrawal, keeping the cashbook, bankbook, bank account, contracts, preparing and verifying vouchers in line with GIZ and client’s standards procedures and systems/Programs and in accordance with the signed authorization agreements for all InS office and projects
  • Ensuring good communication and flow of information within the GIZ country office and in particular the CARP team
  • Providing administrative services for CARP if needed
  • Managing procurement of good and services in accordance with WB/GIZ rules and regulations (contract requests and preparations handled by a colleague)
  • Managing travel arrangements (e.g. procuring tickets, managing travel expense advances and settlements)
  • Supporting the financial manager in controlling costs with WINPACCS cost control, preparing invoices to the client.

 Your profile Qualifications

  • University degree at least on bachelors’ level in Financial Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial management of projects
  • Experience with international donor-funded projects
  • Experience with GIZ internal financial procedures is considered an advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant financial management tools, such as WINPACCS
  • Fluency in English and Arabic language required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and motivated to close collaborate with all project staff involved
  • Stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Dynamic and flexible to be able to respond to changing priorities and tight deadlines
