Asuda for Combating Violence against Women is an Iraqi NGO dedicated to combating and eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls through an international, institutionalized and systematic approach to protect women’s rights and strengthen civil society entities in the region. Asuda seeks the attainment of a safe environment for women and other marginalized groups, free from all forms of violence and discrimination. Asuda works for a world where everyone is held accountable for their actions, and individuals can rely on the provision of legal services. Asuda works with national and international organizations to raise awareness, to continue advocating for women’s rights, and to lead projects directed at empowering women and girls in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The Lawyer has responsibility for cases providing legal support, follow up and consultancy, in spite of working as Asuda representative when required.

Roles and Responsibilities

Program Implementation
  • Receiving cases, court representation and/or providing legal consultancy to the cases. Work as a case representative and file a lawsuit
  • Providing consultancy and legal support for Asuda cases through interviewing or phone calls.
  • Conducting seminars and workshops related to the refugees, IDPs and Host Communities civil rights according to the project outcomes.
  • Documentation of all case documents and archive them to the Asuda case file. 
  • Coordination with related local authorities and relevant government actors/offices.
  • In spite of follow up supervising for the project cases the lawyer shall prepare the weekly or monthly report and submit to the line manager.
  • Case referral to Asuda psycho-social sector or other service providers.
  • Representing as Asuda representative during legal situations.

Monitoring &Evaluation
  • Collect data through GBV and non-GBV management tools and systems, in line with the principle of confidentiality;
  • Analyze the information about clients accessing the services, to improve service delivery;
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports of the cases.
  • Complete monthly activity reports and develop and maintain work plans to achieve activities;
  • Ensure that ethical and sound data collection and information management systems are in place.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Law.
  • Member of Iraq Lawyers Syndicate.
  • At least two years of experience in practicing law (Practitioner degree).
  • Belief in human rights including gender equality.
  • Experience working with people from different backgrounds.
  • Practical understanding of Microsoft office applications.
