PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The CFS Animator will be responsible for the implements structured activities at the CFLS to create a learning environment that provides structure and safety for children, as well as contributing to the child’s emotional security and positive cognitive and physical development.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Activities
Providing Technical support to all project activities  implemented
  • Responsible for the facilitation of the Child friendly activities (child centered, interactive approaches)
  • Work with the team leader  in the facilitation of child focused life-skills and resilience building activities in the CFS.
  • Monitor, supervise and support children’s play activities by ensuring that all recreational activities for children are done in safe and rewarding manner.
  • Ensure a variety of structured games and activities within the CFS, catering to the needs of children of different ages, genders, and abilities
  • Implement a daily/weekly activity schedule which includes play and recreational activities; educational activities; sports; expressive activities like drama, singing, and drawing; communicative activities like storytelling; and time for small group/large group activities
  • Ensure that all children accessing the CFS data are recorded in the CFS databases regularly.
  • Plan activities for the coming week with a variety of programs and activities for each age group, and that engage girls’ active participation
  • Post the activity schedule at the beginning of each week so children know what to expect
  • Ensure that children’s participation and input form the basis of the CFS and the activities
  • Promote equal participation by girls and boys for different activities in the CFS.
  • Promote participation by children who have mental or physical disabilities
  • Ensure a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the CFS - an area where no physical discipline or fighting occurs
  • Ensure that children will be safe going to and from the CFS
  • Screen for and monitor protection needs and gaps in and around the CFS
  • Ensure that children feel comfortable, safe, and respected
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate conflict-solving behaviors
  • Take accurate attendance on a daily basis so we can know who is coming and who is not
  • Conduct a daily visual assessment of the children each day to see if any children have protection concerns
  • Identify children who are malnourished, or who have health or psychosocial risks and refer accordingly
  • Assure that children have a break so they can drink water and go to the toilet
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
 
Capacity Building provision for project team
  • Coordination activities with team leader .

Raise awareness of parents (parents of children/youth attending CFLS courses) on education and protection
  • Support team leader to develop awareness raising materials
  • Inform and sensitize parents of child referred cases on the necessary type of support and role they need to play to help their child overcome the situation they are in.
  • Refer child cases to the other NGO services and respective clusters.
 
Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:
  1. University degree in Psychology or Social Work, Professional training on Early Childhood development can be accepted in Lieu of Degree program.
  2. Previous experience ( minimum  3years)  in the education in emergencies  or child protection in emergencies is required for this position including the ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage NFE programs that include curricula and materials design, teacher mobilization and training, monitoring .
  3. Excellent communication skills with children of different age groups and adults (staff and community members).
  4. Fluent in both English and Arabic (speaking and writing).
  5. Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office package.

  7. Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  8. Ability to work in difficult and high risk situations.
  9. Ability to cope and work under pressure.
  10. Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team.
  11. Familiar with Humanitarian Principles and standards.
  12. Familiar with sector minimum standards and guidelines such as INEE Minimum Standards; familiar with Kurdish and Iraqi education system and UN cluster system (high asset).
  13. Full adherence to World Vision Child Protection, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
  14. Work experience with humanitarian agencies
