Background:
QANDIL is a Swedish non-profit, non-political, non-religious humanitarian aid organization that was founded in 1991 in Stockholm, Sweden. Having continuously operated in the Kurdistan Region ever since, QANDIL’s main priorities of work are construction and infrastructure activities, refugee and IDP initiatives, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, and capacity building
 
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Participate in field testing of the protection monitoring questionnaire
  • Contact selected households in the assigned refugee camp through phone calls to set appointments for the monitoring visit. 
  • Gather and accurately record responses of the refugee households being interviewed on digital devices (tablets).
  • Ensure that the questionnaire has been thoroughly checked and completed. 
  • Daily upload the filled questionnaires on the Refugee Assistance Information System (RAIS); 
  • Complete 5 to 6 household monitoring visits per day and team as per work plan indicated by UNHCR;  
  • Act with the highest standard of conduct and represent QANDIL Swedish Humanitarian Aid Organization and UN agencies in a professional and courteous manner at all times;
  • Plan logistics for fieldwork, including monitoring visit locations and times, as well as coordination with drivers and other protection monitors accordingly; 
  • Upon arrival in the camps, ensure to inform camp management, Asaysh and Police about the team’s presence and daily plan;  
  • Keep track of all contacted and visited households and ensure timeliness of action.  Make sure that the digital devices are fully charged prior to field work 
  • Responsible for security and confidentiality of the electronic data and report any possible risk of breach of data confidentiality. 
  • Destroy any note used during the interview including any identifiable information (e.g. case number, name, contact details) 
  • Return the digital devices in the same conditions that they have been received 
  • Gather information in an objective, appropriate and sensitive way adhering the code of conduct for protection monitors (attached);
  •  Track the starting and ending times of the HHs visits 
  • Make sure that the household monitoring visits are saved before leaving the HHs space 
  • Submit completed forms at the end of each working day. 
  • Recognize and give an account of problems in obtaining data during the assessment and other challenges encountered. 
  • Refer any protection threats/incidents referred to partners. 
  • Report security incidents encountered.
Required Qualification & Skills:
  • Diploma or Bachelor degree in Sociology, Statistics or IT; 
  • Fresh Graduated students or one year experience in the same position or protection field; 
  • Fluency in Kurdish, Arabic languages & English Language is a plus; 
  • General knowledge of issues pertaining to Persons of Concern to UNHCR and UNHCR’s protection mandate; 
  • Good reporting skills; 
  • Computer literate - Microsoft Office, Outlook …etc; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a team work attitude; 
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning; 
  • Confidentiality - Ability to handle sensitive matters appropriately; 
  • Willingness to work in all areas of Erbil Governorate and to work overtime if required by supervisors.
