The Iraq Community Resilience Initiative (ICRI), an International Development project, seeks candidates for Engineer based in Erbil, Iraq. The project aims to promote recovery in conflict-affected areas, with a focus on minority communities, in Ninewa Province.
The Engineer will assist ICRI staff in the investigation, evaluation and development of activities undertaken by the program and determine if activity proposals are feasible and oversee infrastructure related elements of projects funded by ICRI. He/she will assist in the preparation and review of technical scope of work, equipment, systems and labor needed for the projects.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review draft project proposals, plans, specifications, BOM, and QA/QC plans  
  • Assist program team members and ICRI grantees in northern Iraq, evaluate, prioritize, plan and design, and implement activities with engineering components.
  • In coordination with the program team, provide recommendations in setting up the project’s monitoring and evaluation process for projects.
  • Assist in gathering information about proposed activities and beneficiaries.
  • Providing QA inspections of implemented projects, periodic oversight and supervise subcontractor’s performance for rehabilitation actions.
  • Assisting in finding local Iraqi contractors that can perform all or parts of needed work.
  • Work with Procurement team to inspect services and materials obtained for rehabilitation purposes..
  • Documenting lessons learned from projects and contribute to activity reports.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
Qualifications
  • BS degree in engineering required.
  • Extensive and active personal network within communities in Syria.
  • Some experience working with northern Iraq communities, city and provincial officials.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills, diplomacy, and ability to work with multi-ethnic and multi-regional groups.
  • Native proficiency in Arabic and basic English skills are required.
  • Good report writing skills and proven research skills.
  • Excellent work ethics.
