This position, Community Liaison Officer is based in Sulaymaniyah with frequent visits to Qaradagh. The purpose of the role is to manage the community-related engagements and interact with people on daily bases with the aim of enhancing Genel Energy’s relations with local communities in the areas of its operations in Qaradagh District.

Key Accountabilities include but not limited to:
  • Assist with building strong relations with the Local Authorities and communities within the operation areas through holding regular meetings, conducting visits and clarifying the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Communicate the Local Authorities concerns and requests to the company’s management as appropriate.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports as well as presentations and other CSR related reports as required by the CSR Manager.
  • Act as the point of contact for liaising between different departments for the community, local authorities and suppliers related matters.
  • Undertake and manage direct engagement with local communities including receiving, monitoring and responding to grievances, disputes and unrests through regular and effective communications in the sites and report back properly and in a timely manner to the management or the related department personal at GE.
  • Coordinate works and act as a bridge between the community, Local Authorities, suppliers and GE in its operation areas making sure that they all understand and are fully committed to the company’s policies.
  • Assist in the process of identifying service providers, suppliers, supporting pre-tender stage and participate in undertaking negotiations for the acquisition of any related services or engagement of service providers.
  • Monitor proper execution of all and any services provided either directly by GE or through its sub-contractors in the operation areas and make follow-ups and report on progress and effectiveness in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct researches on the communities within the operation areas as appropriate and collect appropriate data in order to assist in developing the CSR plans. Then prepare meaningful assessment reports and share with the management.
Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma with relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communication, listening and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good level in written and spoken English.
  • Preference will be given to candidates originated from the area
  • Must have 5 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Personnel of the concerned departments at Genel Energy.
