The “Private Sector Development & Employment Promotion” (PSD) Project, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in cooperation with the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Planning, can look back at numerous achievements to support economic development and job creation in Iraq. The project has so far supported over 20,000 young job seekers to enter the labour market. Additionally, key governmental partners were supported to promote the agenda on economic reforms (Whitepaper and Vision 2030) on topics ranging from digitalisation to strengthening the participation of women in the economy.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for a wide range of communication tasks. These include the content related maintenance of the projects Social Media Pages (Facebook & Twitter), the development of communication instruments in cooperation with the team leader and the technical colleagues, collecting and processing of susses stories, giving advise about GIZ/EU requirements to technical colleagues and being the main focal point for questions from the colleagues related to communication. The candidate will work in a team of dedicated communication experts and will be responsible for the following detailed tasks:
Social Media
- Collect, create and edit social media posts independently.
- Use and further development of templates for easy posting and reposting
- Quality check and further editing of deliverables from the fields of activity
- Support the monitoring of the project's social media posts
Success Stories
- Work proactively with technical colleagues to collect success stories
- Follow up on the input and compile all relevant information to use the stories in different formats
- Maintain and further develop communication tools for success stories
- Keep the data bank for success stories up-to-date
- Design and development of communication instruments
- Proactively develop and suggest solutions to communicate the achievement of the project
- Design and maintain instruments to enhance the projects communication capability
- Work with contractors to ensure a professional setup of the instruments
Picture Database
- Work with external consultants to collect and file professional pictures for the project
- Build and maintain PSDs picture database
- Advice officers on how to take and share pictures according to GIZ regulations
- Provide pictures for specific activities
- Take pictures on events around Baghdad
Support the management
- - Liese with the different fields of activity to collect and plan monthly activities relevant for communication in the monthly check-ins
- - Independently manage contracts related to communication and her/his tasks, considering GIZs procurement and contract management guidelines
- - Maintains the project library and internal tracker of visibility statistics to meet EU requirements
- - Support the management in event management
Other Knowledge, additional competencies
- A university degree is mandatory, preferably in political/social sciences or communication related topics
- 5 years of relevant occupational experience in project management
- a proven record of 5 years of communications / PR work is mandatory
- very good working knowledge of MS Office 365 applications
- above average academic Arabic and English language proficiencies are mandatory (writ-ten and spoken); Kurdish and/or German skills are an asset
- experience with an international company or development organisation is an asset
- a record of skills in graphic design tools are an asset
