Summary
The job holder is responsible for the Accounting Unit activities including developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures. The job holder will also be responsible for the effective and reliable operation of accounting activities, including general and cost accounting
Key Accountabilities
  • Set Accounting Unit performance objectives, in coordination with Financial Planning and Budgeting and Strategy Management and Corporate Performance Departments, and continuously monitor progress and development towards organizational and Unit strategic objectives and communicate periodic performance reports to provide evaluation results and recommend improvements 
  • Develop and implement Accounting Unit policies and procedures in order to ensure the fulfilment of organizational requirements whilst delivering high-quality services 
  • Carry out the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Unit, provide expertise, encourage teamwork and align work processes to achieve high performance standards, meet established targets and engage employee in a motivated work environment
  • Maintain accounts receivable registers and prepare accounts receivable reports and ensure adherence to reporting standards
  • Control and monitor posting process from Billing system into GL
  • Analyze revenue and prices in order to optimize cost
  • Reconcile between Collection Channels, Oracle and Billing Systems in order to ensure accuracy of data
  • Process invoices and payments by verifying documentation and disbursement requests, perform reconciliation and rectification of discrepancies in payment transactions
  • Reconcile purchase orders/receipts to ensure balance between ordered and received goods
  • Generate reports on accounts payable and respond to enquiries related to payables and expenses and provide relevant explanations
  • Manage project accounting, prepare reports and process corporate, project, collect, consolidate and archive invoices and payment orders
  • Maintain and control Fixed Assets Register and conduct Assets closing and reconciliation between virtual and physical inventory
  • Conduct depreciation Calculation in order to ensure the generation of an accurate balance sheet
  • Generate Reports on Fixed Assets, Assets classifications, impairments, write-off and physical inventory
  • Carry out monthly, quarterly and end of year closing of all ledgers and accounts to ensure timeliness and accuracy of accounts
  • Generate accounting and costing data and ensure an efficient and readily accessible recording system of all accounting data and statistics to meet commercial and statutory requirements
  • Implement and monitor accounting separation
  • Generate internal accounting reports and ensure adherence to reporting standards and identify any negative financial impact on the company, if any
  • Manage the issuance of the trial balance in order to issue an accurate balance sheet
  • Control book keeping and conduct analysis of accounts in order to ensure the accuracy of data
  • Monitor processing of journals and reversals of all sub-ledgers and ensure the reconciliation of all subsidiary ledgers with the control accounts in the general ledger
  • Contribute and ensure the effective achievement of functional objectives through the supervision of the Accounting Unit, set individual objectives, manage performance, develop and motivate staff, provide formal and informal feedback and appraisal, and provide guidance on training programs for employees in order to maximize subordinate and Unit performance

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance-related field or equivalent
 
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in a similar role
