mselect is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer for an international oil & gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas industry. English and Arabic fluency is a must.
 
JOB OBJECTIVE
Provide Mechanical Engineering technical support to Infrastructure Maintenance Department and implementing instructions from Infrastructure Maintenance Lead related to all work under his supervision. Proficient and self-motivated Engineer, with good time management skills and a track record for consistent project delivery - with strong technical knowledge and competence discipline. Works well with minimal supervision.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide scope of work for all Mechanical work inside the oil field for Infrastructure maintenance department
  • Take ownership of Mechanical technical queries to ensure resolution to the satisfaction of the Project Team Leader
  • Contribute to the development of the plans, schedules and estimates for individual work scope and integrated plan
  • Review of job progress and cost reports regarding Mechanical engineering activities
  • To liaise with other disciplines in the execution of the work
  • Ensure that all Mechanical design changes are captured by the change control process
  • Contribute to the development of the plans, schedules and estimates for individual work scope
  • Extensive Knowledge of NDE techniques VT/UT/MT/PT/RT Methods
  • Ensure that all Mechanical work is carried out in accordance with Asset priorities and schedules as set out in the integrated plan
  • Trouble-shooting the design, identifying and resolving issues with Construction Contractor by raising and resolution of Site/ Technical Queries
  • Liaise with Construction Supervisors on day to day issues
  • Completing and reviewing as-built documentation
  • To attend daily/ weekly progress meetings and generate status reports as requested
  • Review and acceptance of final mechanical system handover documentation on behalf of the project
  • Plan, assist in direction and execution of mechanical work, including equipment in the field, to meet project objectives
  • Maintains first-level quality assurance to confirm that the installations of all Infrastructure and equipment and support systems in accordance with the plans, specifications, and industry standards
  • Assist construction personnel with general technical details
  • Liaising with quantity surveyors about the ordering and negotiating the cost of work orders
  • Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees
  • Interpret equipment vendor drawings and manuals, P&ID’s and piping isometrics
  • Provides resolution for technical engineering problems; coordinates application of solutions
  • Ensure project schedules are being met
  • Interact with all contractors during construction phase of a project
 
KEY REQUIREMENTS
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • High professional skills in AutoCAD program 2D&3D
Experience:
  • 8 years of relevant job experience within the Oil & Gas industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Mechanical engineer role in Oil and Gas industries
Computer Skills:
  • MS Office (Excel – Word – PowerPoint)
  • SAP

  • Focus on continuous self-learning and improvement
  • Promote and maintain high level of safety awareness, by completion of Unsafe Act Reports Near Miss Reports, Incident reports, Toolbox Talks. Promote Environmental awareness in line with AFPC policy
  • Maintenance experience in engineering of various types foundations for Infrastructure and rotating equipment’s, pipe supports, pipe racks and pipe bridges
  • Experience in maintenance of oilfield facilities such as control rooms, electrical substations, pump sheds, tank foundations
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills both technical and non-technical
  • Experience in technical evaluation of bids for materials
  • Shall possess and be capable of demonstrating administration and interpersonal skills in dealing with company site representative with regard to terms and conditions of contract, work, invoices timesheets and all associated documentation
  • Ability to work cohesively and communicate successfully in multi-cultural teams whilst being aware of and sensitive to cultural differences
  • Ability to communicate, co-ordinate, and manage cost data flow interfaces with each function
  • English – upper intermediate (verbal & written)
