The Kurdistan region of Iraq is the largest unexplored onshore petroleum basin and Kurdish Regional Government resource estimates indicate that the area possesses upwards of 45-50 billion barrels of oil as well as six trillion cubic feet of gas. TAQA is the operator of the Atrush Block, which is located 85 km northwest of Erbil. TAQA holds a majority share in the block, alongside its partners the KRG, General Exploration Partners and Marathon. Initial production is expected to be approximately 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).
